What should I be aware of in a used F26RKS?
I've had two 5th wheels, one of which was a 2008 Arctic Fox 24-5L but moved away from it because of low head clearance in the bedroom area.
I visited the ORV website and saw the floor plan for the F26RKS, and it's promising.
I'd appreciate if you would share some of your experiences with this model, both good and not so good.
I recently watched a 3 part series on YouTube about the manufacturing tour at ORV, made in 2019. I'm encouraged that they are trying to put a good, rugged product out. I live close enough to LaGrande, that I might take a day trip to see the tour for myself.
I found some information about the 2016 5th wheels, with pin-box issues, frames cracking.
I'm heading to a dealer tomorrow to have a look at a 2017 F26RKS and it would be great to know if there are other issues that may good to be aware of.
Thanks for your time to reply.

2 things would be a turn off for me are the Schwintek slides and narrow gap between the bed and wall on the curb side.
Purely subjectional on the wall/bed gap.
The Schwinteks may be fine but are prone to issues more than the rack system.

I'd definitely suggest the factory tour. I would not give too much weight to the video that was posted (I think it was from adventurous way). I ended up getting two 250RKS' from ORV and both units had some issues. The fist one was almost a joke - it was so bad the dealer said they were just going to send it back. The second one was much better, but still had a few things that one would have expected to have been caught by ORV's QC Team.
Buying a used one is a sound idea because "hidden" issues such as punctured tanks or major leaks have probably been taken care of. In this case, I'd be focusing on the outside (to check the seals and roof), and the slide mechanism.
Keep us posted and good luck!!

Thank you for your time in replying!
I hadn't seen the replies before I left the house to go to the dealer. The intent with this trip was so that my wife look around the rig to see how it could meet our needs and wants.
After the walk around inside and out, my wife and I concluded that we need to keep looking for a rig that fits more of what we want. When comparing features, standard items and what I've added to the current Arctic Fox rig, getting this 2017 one from the dealer would be starting over from scratch. She also wasn't too keen on the storage, such as the tiny cabinets over the theater seats, what could you put in there anyhow, pasta, and canned goods? She also mentioned the step up in the bedroom right next to the bed, was going to be trouble at night.
We'll need to check out the other floor designs, but the RKS isn't going to work for us.
Thanks again for your time in replying.
Cheers and safe journeys!
