A great heads-up! Thank you. I have personally experienced one instantaneous passenger side mirror amputation on a narrow truss bridge whilst avoiding oncoming vehicular traffic. Wish I had been forewarned!

9 feet is 108 inches. Our trailers are only 96 inches. Plenty of room. A miss is as good as a mile.

Great warning! I crossed that bridge twice a few months ago in my Ram truck without the camper on behind. I folded my driver's side mirror flat against the cab and still almost got tapped by an oncoming pickup with his tow mirrors extended. I don't believe I would be brave enough to pull my trailer across that bridge even though it is technically possible. You never know what might be coming your way...

You could always cross downstream at Cascade Locks on Bridge of the Gods, which has 12' lanes. It's only about 20 minutes from Hood River.

Yes, many times, but I avoid it with my MH. I use either the bridge at The Dalles (east) or Cascade Locks (West). I have followed and personally observed many pickups tangling with the guard rail. My dually pickup was a real challenge, especially since the metal "grate" surface tends to wander!!!

US 97 at The Dalles is *much* wider if crossing the Columbia River is needed. If too far west to turn around to go back to US 97 and you're on the WA side, then just stay on WA 14 until you get to I 205 if you don't want to deal with narrow truss bridges.
