Automatic Stairs

I have a 2003 26' Vision. It's my understanding that the stairs should automatically retract if the coach is shifted into gear. If this is correct then I have a problem because it doesn't do it. Any suggestions about where to look would be appreciated. Thanks!

Key to on, door shut. Check the magnet on the door to see if it's making good contact.
