Knocking under the dash

2001 American Clipper 29C, Ford F53:

On my rig, there seems to be a significant current draw to hold some sort of device open under the dash which I can't locate. The battery will eventually go dead. When I plug it in to shore, the device starts knocking under the dash like it's opening and closing. It continues until there's enough juice to hold it open (or closed) I don't know which.

Any idea's on what and why this happens? I can't be the only one with this issue.

Thank you,
Tony

Possibly

It could maybe be your blend door actuator. That's what opens and closes the little doors where and how you want your a/c to come out. I had that same knocking on my pickup and sure enough. Does the a/c airflow get wonky when you turn it on?

Is it possible that your HVAC box is creating the knocking noise? For example, if the A/C or heater is constantly trying to switch its position from defrost to mid-level airflow, to foot area airflow?

Just a shot in the dark, but it is the only thing I can think of that would make such a noise.
