Has anyone replaced their water heater with an On-Demand Heater? We would like to do that but would like to hear of the experience others have had first.

I have done it for other people, but I would not do it for myself.

Because they don’t work well or because they are a pain to install or….?

Just my personal preference. With the tank water heater the water is already heated up when I need it. With on demand you just have to get use to setting the water to the tight temperature you want and mixture of cold vs hot. I would not expect a constant flow of hot water with on demand if that is what you are looking for. Some people like them, some don't.

I use constant flow of hot only for showers with my tankless water heater.

We set the temp control to what works for us and have been using it for 3 years now, thru 6 month snowbird seasons.

If you try to add cold, the water flow slows thru the heater and it can shut down, giving you a cold blast. We don't do that.

Mmmm, I can see this isn’t as easy as I thought. Also, i have heard that they don’t work if you go above 2,000 feet. We would occasionally be doing that.
