As I understand RVTW with regard to the Mileage numbers contained in the pop-ups that appear when you hover your cursor over any CG or POI, is that the mileage is calculated to that spot from the stop that is highlighted in the Trip Area at that time. So if you have established Stops A, B, C and D in your trip, and you select (highlight) Stop D in the Trip area, any potential future stop (X) that you hover over on the map will cause a new pop-up to appear. That pop-up will show the mileage to it from Stop D. If, however, you hover over that future stop (X) and your last highlighted stop in the Trip Area had been Stop B, then the mileage that will appear in the pop-up will be the mileage from B to X. And I think that mileage will be as the crow flies (unless you are staying on your established route plan), because I have done some East to West and return trips where if I've highlighted one of my later East-bound stops in the Trip Area and then hovered over an early outbound (Westward) leg stop. When I do that, the mileage shown in the pop-up will be the distance from the highlighted stop on the return leg directly to the stop on the outbound leg, without regard for the routing already established for the entire trip. (Attached is an example.)
You will always, however, have your stop-to-stop distances in your Trip Area.
