Blue Ridge Parkway

Is there anyway to get the software to follow the Blue Ridge Parkway? When I go to the starting point it reroutes me to major roads

Do you need software? the BRP follows the same highway if I recall right. There is a guide that shows points of interest at a certain milepost. It's been awhile since we did it.

The problem is that the Blue Ridge is "no trucks" and you have RV routing on. You will need to turn RV routing off. I know of a low tunnel on the southern end in the Smokies so be aware.

You might try the drag feature.

Drag will be blocked if he has RV routing on and it is No Trucks.

Thanks Sue, I was not aware of that. Typically I try an avoid interstates so I turn RV routing off and use the drag feature to get the route I want. The reason is if I use the avoid highways feature, RVTW will avoid any interstate routing even if traveling on a 5 mile section of the interstate would save 30 minutes.

After I create the route I want using the drag feature I will save the route and start a new route with the same destination and use RV routing and compare the 2 routes.

Other gotchas are if you have avoid tolls on and entrance fee to a park is considered a toll. Avoid dirt roads is another one, if a park has a small portion of its entrance a dirt road then the dirt road flag comes up.

Yup, pretty much all routing programs are the same. Someday AI will be introduced and these issues will no longer be bothersome.
