I have had the programmers digging through the code for a couple of days without finding the cause. We have also not been able to replicate the issue.

For those who have had this happen, please describe what you did and when the date change occurred.

If we can replicate the problem, it makes it much easier to find and fix.

If you are still talking about the OP where you can't edit the start date, It happens to me on Windows 10, Chrome. Firefox and IE work fine.

When I click the edit button on the first stop, it generates this error:

I have a few browser extensions but they are developer ones and don't change or block any content.

This date change problem has got to be unique to the individual users who are having this problem.

I run RV Trip Wizard on four devices:
  • A PC running Windows 7 Pro and Firefox
  • A laptop running Windows 10 Home and Firefox
  • A Mac Pro running OSX 10.8 and Firefox
  • My Ipad using the Dolphin web browser
I am able to change dates using any of these devices, even if I have a zero in the “nights” field on our start point, which I always do. I can change the trip start date and all the rest of the dates in the trip then change accordingly.

Yes, that's exactly the problem. ALL of the other dates change accordingly. It's not unique, you just don't understand the problem.

Changing dates in RV Trip Wizard

What I don’t understand is this...if you have planned a multi-leg trip and you change the start date or a date for a layover spot, why would you want all the remaining dates to stay the same? If you move a trip start date or a layover day up or back a few days, that’s going to affect all the other planned dates in the trip.

Oh no! if you leave 5 days later than you planned, trip wizard is supposed to be smart enough to know how you make up for the lost time and still spend 2 wks at Disney World without changing your reservation and hit all the fuel stops on Tuesday before the prices change AND still be able be back home before the love bug invasion>

Clearly adriangordon has a wish list that isn't currently supported by RVTW. I think I've even heard another couple of folks ask for something similar. I'm having a hard time wrapping my mind around how any travel planner can adaptive in the manner requested but maybe I'm just not able to think outside of the box. I've become very familiar with RVTW and changing dates when I change plans isn't difficult at all...at least to me.

Time to move on.

I understand the issue, and this would be a nice fature to have. However the lack this feature is hardly a flaw in the program as the work-around is easy and obvious. Put in something else to account for the “empty” days that you just created.

As has been mentioned, there are times when you might want to plan a trip where a stop somewhere in the middle has to be set in stone, and let the program figure out the starting date. Then one might want to schedule some extra stops between the start and the "set in stone" stop and have the program recalculate the starting date based on that. I do that manually with Streets & Trips, and it takes some time.

Because I may have campground reservations for certain dates that I can't change or I may just have a few days that I can suddenly add.
