Do you know any tunnels where propane is restricted?
There appear to be a half dozen tunnels that are commonly cited as not allowing vehicles with propane tanks to pass through. They appear to be tunnels that pass under water. This makes sense because propane is heavier than air. If propane leaks, the propane has no way to travel uphill to get out of the tunnel.
- Maryland/Baltimore: Baltimore Harbor and Fort McHenry (I-95) tunnels. Alternate route for RVs with propane over the Francis Scott Key Bridge is I-695.
- Massachusetts/Boston Harbor: All tunnels.
- Between Manhattan and Brooklyn: Brooklyn Battery Tunnel.
- Between Manhattan and Queens: Queens Midtown Tunnel.
- Between Manhattan and Jersey City: Holland Tunnel.
- Between Manhattan and Fort Lee: Lower level George Washington Bridge (I-95 South) and George Washington Bridge Expressway. Lower level Verrazano Narrows Bridge.
Do you all know any other tunnels where propane is restricted?

Montreal tunnel - use the Hwy 30 bypass, its shorter/faster but does have a small toll.

That's weird....I've gone though the Harbor Tunnel (I-95 North and South) with my RV a bunch of times with no issues - propane on and propane off. They've never checked.

You've been lucky. If they did check it would have been a hefty fine. I have never been through that tunnel, but have driven around it a dozen times or more.

Just DUMB luck. prohibited items 3) Class 2, division 2.1 flammable gas is prohibited, with exceptions for propane, LPG, CNG, LNG, and other flammable compressed gas in U.S.D.O.T. approved containers, in quantities not to exceed 10 pounds gross weight per container, and 100 pounds gross weight per vehicle there is about one hundred other items prohibited too.
If you go to virginia and miss the pull of to turn off the gas you will get a ticket and a $500.00 fine. Be safe and find the alternate routes in Baltimore.

You just haven't gotten caught or had the ticket. There are signs that clearly say no propane.
