Am I missing something?

To my knowledge, the Drag has never snapped to a given type of road. While the video could be interpreted that way, the map was zoomed out enough that you actually would not be able to tell that it did not. Remember that RVTW is used to plan travel across a multitude of road types. You were expecting that it would snap to the interstate via some preprogrammed logic, but what if the user does not want to travel the interstates. That preprogramming would be counterproductive, and maddening. In reality, aside from the Avoidances you choose, RVTW has no way to know what your road preferences are for any given section of trip, even more so for a Drag. So it pretty much plops the Drag at the specific point that you drop it. RVTW is just doing what you tell it to do. Bottom line is, when you drag, verify that it's really where you want it to be. Safe travels.
