Dragging A Route
I have set my route to end at San Antonio, view entire trip, but Planner takes me directly through Houston. I want to loop around Houston. Dragging the route does not move it to the alternate route I want to take, and sometimes bounces back to it's original pre-planned route. What am I missing?

Make sure the Drag Route is toggled on, upper left of screen with red letters.

Make sure you zoom in sufficiently to drop it on the road you want.
Alternatively, you can zoom in very close and right click on the exact road / lane, and choose Custom Stop.

Or just pick some random "interim stop" if you're using Google Maps to route to that will certainly move you over toward San Antonio rather than Houston.

Which route are you using/ wanting to use?
I-610 - no toll
TX-8/ Beltway 8/ Sam Houston Parkway - Toll
TX-99 / Grand Parkway - Toll
I don't use drag route because it does not allow you to control the order of dragged points.
I zoom in, right click and Create a Custom Stop to get around downtown Houston. Sometimes I'll need two or three stops to make the routing system work correctly.
Drag Route will always go to the first waypoint you create, and if you then need to create a Drag Route waypoint closer to the start of the diversion, RVTW will backtrack between the two points.
Also, if you have Avoid Tolls selected in your trip settings - drag route will not work correctly if you try to use a Toll Road.

Another point.
If I'm working on a multi-day trip, I never, ever, use drag route or add custom waypoints.
Those are too easy to get messed up in a multi-day/ multi-stop trip.
I break each daily drive out to an individual trip and do my detailed route tweaking on that one-day drive.
Less chance of messing up the big trip file.

I broke Cleveland, tx to San Antonio into a separate leg, however, dragging around Hou moves the route all over the place. Waypointing small towns around creates a web.

Your time, examples, explanation, and Instruction are most educational. Thank you. I will work your guideline this afternoon and get back with you. Irv2 Trip Wizard would do well to set your steps as standing procedure.

My route is set No Tolls Roads. Using the 99 drops me into Katy. I drove from Oregon home to Texas. Going back to Or, via CA coast on Thousand Trails 1-Yr pass. Trip planning goes smoothly beyond Tx.

Custom Stop
Pick a spot on the map where you know it will route you around Houston and add it to the trip as a custom stop. It will become a segment on the trip

Another strategy would be to figure out the exit to take to loop around and then remember to take that exit. the Map software will / should catch up and correct your route.

TX-99 is mostly a Toll Road, both north of I-10 and south of where it crosses FM-1093
https://maps-houston.com/houston-toll-road-map
Getting almost as hard to avoid toll roads in Houston as the Orlando area.
Trying to use one segment of a toll road with your route setting for No Toll Roads will really mess up a trip in RVTW.
Your two axle Class A DP won't be very much, if any, above a regular car in tolls, however, if you are pulling a two axle toad, the toll will be 3 X the regular toll.

From Cleveland to San Antonio, we have used TX 105 to Brenham. We pick up TX 109 south to Columbus and stay at Colorado River, Thousand Trails Park.
Create a custom stop at Blue Belle Ice Cream in Brenham from Cleveland.
