Date pinning - excellent suggestion!!! I have looked at different options and none of them have this which has been a huge problem for me. I love RV Trip Wizard, but do not use the dates at all because of this problem...I have to dual enter everything in a spreadsheet which is cumbersome. With this functionality, I may actually be able to streamline.

Hi Janet. Is there an estimate of when this feature might be implemented, and if not, can you tell us how high on the "to do" list it is? Or maybe there is another reasonable workaround I'm not aware of.

Here's an example of the problem:

1. My first reservation is for 3-days at a RV Park on June 3. I entered that into RVTripWizard.

2. My next confirmed dates are a high school graduation and a wedding, both several weeks down the road and in different ends of the country, followed by several additional reserved campsites on the opposite coast. Our plan is to find stops between where we begin (on the west coast) and where we must be on the east coast.

Unless I enter a string of phantom "place holders" in places along the way, the dates of the graduation and wedding (actually, the entire multi-day timelines of these big family events) move up to meet the previous date/location. I must then adjust the number of days at the place holder just to get the graduation and wedding where they're supposed to be. Then when I add something else with a firm date, I recount days and make adjustments so the graduation and wedding align again, aaaaad...... ugh! you get the point.

It's so very tedious, and is the biggest issue keeping me from liking this tool. (Which is otherwise very cool!)

I'm at a point where I might ditch this and use a spreadsheet, which I obviously don't want to do since I paid for RVTripWizard.

I'm just wondering how much longer I should hold out for this feature.

OceanBreezes - while not a substitute for the great idea of "date-pinning", you don't have to re-enter everything to the spreadsheet. You can export to Excel and then just use the spreadsheet to edit. Or, perhaps you already do that?

I em'd the support team recently about this request and here is the response I received:

"Yes, we are working on the ability to pin dates, but we have to make major code changes to make pinning dates possible. One of the major code changes also made the application much faster. That is the one released this week. We have several other sections of code to complete, then we can start programming the pinning of dates. We do have the design for this complete, but still need to complete all of the programming tasks."

The real update is that it is coming. I know that's not what you want to hear, but I can assure you we're working on it. The quote above is correct about having to work on other areas of code before we got to it.

We have some amazing ideas and a packed roadmap of new features ahead. In the past year we have added a lot of features and will continue to do so this year. We appreciate your patience and support.

I have used the product for two years, long trips, many miles, last summers trip was 46 stops and about 10,000 miles. In my opinion this is serious usability gap in the product and should be on top of the list to fix. It is a royal pain having to manage dates outside the product just to ensure the planning tool doesn’t screw up the plans when you add a new stop.
