Following a specific Road ie.: Route 66
Is there a way, in RV Trip Wizard, to force the route planning part of the app to stay on a specific road, such as Historic Route 66?
Otherwise, the only option I see is to slowly go mile by mile and drag the route onto Route 66.

Try setting Trip Setting to Avoid Highways, Avoid Tolls. You will still need to drag but maybe less. Or try adding some stops on Rte. 66.

You need to remember that you are using a RV specific trip and route planner designed to get you from Point A to B in the most efficient manner, and in keeping with your desires to assure RV compatible directions. If you don't want that to be the result of the routing plan, you're essentially turning it off. So no, you can't expect it to ignore all it's programing to take you on a route that doesn't meet its reason for being.
That said, you can easily set a couple waypoints via 0-day stops at the beginning and end of a desired route segment to tell RVTW to route you that way. And so long as that segment is compatible with its RV routing algorithms, it will be happy to do that. However, if the route has any RV compatibility issues, it'll let you know, at which point you can turn off RV routing if you are so inclined. But then, your routing is on you to validate. If you know the route, no big deal. If not, you'll need to independently check it out to be sure. Note that none of the above includes dragging, although it's an additional tool you can employ if you need to. Safe travels.

Some sections of "historic Route 66" no longer exist, especially where ir runs in conjunction with an interstate highway.

Yes, and some areas of NM and AZ, it's just an access road parallel to I-40 and doesn't really go all the way thru. Many dead-ends, that is.
