Match Planned Trip - Fails!
Be careful! The option "Match planned trip route exactly" does not always work if you have put in and removed way points/stopovers. As with many of us, we use RVTW in the spring and the fall as we take trips north and south.
This year,in the spring it seemed to work well for a change. Unfortunately, for our southern trip RVTW has been a disaster. The first problem was that RVTW no longer worked on our 4GB pads, so we had to switch to our phones - which meant it was now inconvenient to use our phones.
The major problem though is that RVTW is unreliable. If you plan a trip, perhaps put some stops in and then remove them, RVTW sometimes directs you to go that way anyway. The first time it happened, we didn't pay attention. Nice day, enjoyable route, yada, yada, yada. Took longer , but it was ok, other than when I pulled into town, and said - why did I come in this way?
The next segment that failed was never my plan, but one that RVTW recommended (but I don't) Fortunately, suspecting something was wrong, I walked the whole route before starting, and then watched as RVTW failed.
We still haven't reached Florida yet, but RVTW failed again. Even though the way point/stopover does not exist, RVTW insisted that we needed to go to a campground that decided against going to. Again, fortunately, I walked the entire route to make sure it went according to the plan. It didn't.
For your own safety and sanity - completely walk your routes on your phone/pad before starting out. RVTW has a problem on how they manage and save their routes on their server. See attached for today's examples.
