Question on route planned

Does Trip Wizard use real time calculations when building the route?

I built a 1600 mile route from MN to FL and thought I was all set. A few days later I wanted to model a new route with some possible changes and I stated a new route with the same start and end point and all settings the same. This time it went and entirely different way. (WI instead of IA) It is about 20 miles shorter I see, but would certainly take me a more congested way around Rockford IL.

Just curious why a different calculation this time and has me second guessing the way I want to go.

Did you have the same routing selected on the second trip (RV routing or Standard Routing?)

Yes I do, with only Avoid Ferries selected. I set the default up that way as I do travel to MI sometimes.

I just did a test from Minneapolis to Tampa and it goes straight through Rockford. Is there any chance you dragged the route manually in some way, or had Avoid Tolls chosen? Those are the only two scenarios where I could force it to deviate from Rockford, either by dragging or choosing Avoid Tolls.

I suppose anything is possible as the app was new to me at the time. I will chalk it up to a user error

Rockford being ‘congested’ is bit of a stretch, the Interstate bypasses it pretty well. I-90 east to I-39 south.
If you feel adventurous at the time, jump off I-90 at the Ill -WI border go west to US Hwy 51 south thru the city of S. Beloit, and Rockford, then jump back on I-39 south.

You are correct. I guess I was referencing being congested vs driving through IA. Have made the 90E/39S trip many times and actually take that down and over to Indy vs 290/294 in Chicago for my KY trips. Have even done through Chi once. and only once.

I have confirmed with an IA friend that Hwy 218 in IA is pretty good and actually thinking of going the IA route now for a change of pace since I have already done my homework on Walmarts and Cracker Barrels along the way.
