RV Life Routes

Why does the Trip Planner allow any route? It differs from the recommendation from RV Life app.

When I put my destination into RV Life it recommends two RV routes and one auto route. The auto route is the shortest and fastest and it's the one I've always done in a car. I feel like I've seen RVs on that road but maybe they weren't making wise choices.

Anyway... RV Life doesn't seem to have a feature to EXPLAIN WHY it chose to avoid a certain route. I want to know what the issue is! How can I find out?

PS it's not a tunnel. I'm thinking maybe it's high winds?

It usually has to do with the height and/or weight of the motorhome. Some roads & bridges have weight limits. It may also be in the routing settings.

Guessing here, but it appears the routing engine for the phone app is different than the web-based RVTW program. That may explain this difference, although both take into account your RV size and weight.

As for explaining why one route or another, I'm not aware of any that explains why, unless they are specific pre-defined hazzards that are normally displayed. So much of these RV programs is " borrowed" from what the trucking industry instituted to assure commercial shipment transit from point A to B safely and to assure their payday, that much of the specific programing is invisible to the user. Just a fact of life.
