RVTW-GPX to Garmin RV890 Problem

I just bought a new Garmin RV890 with the intention of uploading GPX files generated in RV Trip Wizard (RVTW). With my iPhone & the RV890 Bluetooth connected (verified on both), I start an upload from my iPhone using the Garmin Drive app. The upload seems to proceed & once the progress bar finishes, it says the file has been uploaded. There's NO indication of anything happening on the RV890 and when I go to look for the uploaded file on the GPS, there's NOTHING to be found. I've tried multiple GPX files from RVTW - same result. I tried a GPX file created in Google Maps and Maps-to-GPX, and it came across. As such, it seems to be an RVTW file issue. Any ideas on how I might solve this so I can use RVTW?

I went through this and I'm pretty sure there is another post about this problem. As I recall it involves saving the export from RVTW in a CVS file, using an on-line tool to convert it and then importing the converted file into the Garmin.

I figured it was easier to create a route in the Garmin to match the RVTW or use the RVTW app on a smartphone.

There are some other posts about trip exporting in this thread i think.

If you pm me, i can point you to an on line app that may help (waypoints only).

Also, maybe rvtw can incorporate this feature someday.

Like the OP, I was never able to import the GPX file output from RVTW into the RV890. The phone -=> RV890 path is very fragile in terms of communications and content. I don't think the RVTW GPX file contained with some header sections that the 890 expects.

At any rate, I was able to write a little app to convert the RVTW exported Excel spreadsheet into a GPX file the 890 could read.

The help file is located at:

If you can't read it, go to findwaterfrontbar.com, ignore anything there, then go to the help file.

The password is: RVTW_To_GPX.
