Trip wizard doesn't handle going off route well

We have used trip wizard for most of our travels the last week, but when we went off the route to get some lunch it routed us through at least 5 miles of neighborhood streets to get us back to I70. Why couldn't it find a more direct route? Doesn't make sense sometimes.

My guess it depends on many factors. What settings were you using?

Agreed, on my latest trip while using Trip Wizard gps I would touch the end button and pause the route and then back track to exit point.

I do not use Trip Wizard as an active GPS for travel. I use it strictly for route planning and confirm the planning with a paper map. For travel I use my Garmin RV and it treats me well.

People get to depending on computers too much and need to also use a paper map.

I use RV Life with Trip Wizard AND the onboard NavNGo system for redundancy. Wife watches RV Life on the phone. I watch the system on the dash while driving. Helps to identify route disagreements and gives us time to adjust.

What is this map thing of which you speak? Are they those paper fold up GPSs they have at the welcome centers in most states?
