I have a similar problem as the OP. I am currently looking at this as a possible solution. ( haven't decide on anything ..yet.)

Yep, can be a pain. I'm a geek and it is still a pain. I have a nice long usb cable wrapped up when I just want to print a quick page or scan something. Going through hoops is more work than getting out of my chair. If it is out of paper or some other issue arises then I'm right there instead of fussing with the keyboard and then getting multiple copies.

Definitely consider a repeater system for maximum performance. Weak laptops and tiny devices just don't have the hp. A repeater can really improve the performance.

I can print to either of 2 wireless printers and be connected to the internet without disconneting from the net. I set up a network that has my laptop, my wife's laptop, my tablet and the 2 printers.
