I'm pretty sure he meant "latter" when he wrote "former".

dragging a route still shows other loops, how to remove those

I am planning a trip, and tried to drag the route based on input from iRV users, but then trip wizard shows and highlights other routes and I am unable to figure out how to make it go away. maybe it wont affect my trip but was worried it would try to take me that route if i do not delete it.
also can i turn off the return trip option so it doesnt keep backtracking and just retrace my route on the way home?

Drag route is very quirky if more than one drag between fixed stops. They get confused and out of order.

Right Click on a location you want to use as a shaping point. Select "Create Custom Stop"

For the route change on your trip, I zoomed in tightly to create only one change - Custom Stop on I-15 a few miles north of the junction with I-90. Zoomed in so tightly, that the stop is in the northbound lanes of I-15.

Another, separate point. When the screen seems to be confused as your post. Close the trip, open another.

Then reload the modified trip. It seems to help. Occasionally I need to get all the way out of RVTW.

Remember all the work in RVTW is done on a server, not on your computers. There is a lot of data transmitted both way. And the cache in your browser might need to be purged and refreshed to force RVTW into a complete redraw of the route.

Delete Waypoints

If you want to remove a dragged route waypoint. Go to the stops list on the left side. Hover over the waypoint in question and a trashcan will appear....DELETE!!

One addition to this...

In the Trip (Left) Panel, when you have more than one drag waypoint, if you put your cursor over a waypoint in the panel, the corresponding waypoint (circle) on the map will turn red. This way, you know for sure which particular point you are dealing with.

Well... OK....
WHEN is TW going to incorporate traffic data? I understand its kind of pointless when planning a route in advance... but when I am on the road leaving or going around a big city, or trying to get thru or around one, I NEED the GPS to at least tells me there is heavy traffic on my planned route, and gives me the option to reroute. This is something that has been a part of GPS units for maybe 2 decades. Why not here?

Last year I used my now out of date Rand McNally to get around Chicago when I-90/80 closed because of a massive accident. Now that RM is no longer updating their RV GPS maps I need an alternative. I thought TW would be it... but nope. It's a great planning tool, but once I am on the road, not so much.

Sure Apple, Waze and Google maps all can tell me about an upcoming jam and reroute me. But they will also route me onto a parkway or with a low overpass. Or under a low railroad bridge. Every time. (have you driven around NY lately?) Yikes!!!

I feel like the teacher looking for Ferris Bueller. Has anyone solved this issue using one app or device? Closest I see is a Garmin unit....
Anyone?
Anyone?

My bad experiences with TripWizard

1. Twice in our coast to coast trip, we were routed to the middle of a zip code when the Wizard did not know the location of the address. No notification, just routes you. One case was the end of a runway in Nevada, the other was a one way street in the middle of Kansas.

2. The RV safe route in Tennessee was the parkway with a 35 MPH speed limit, vice the interstate. Adding several hours to the trip. No explaination as to why the RV safe route was safe (ex height restriction on interstate, no trucks, weight restriction, ...)

Question Daily Leg Trips, Mileage & Time

Is there a way to show the total daily mileage and an estimated time? When I put in multiple stops, I have to add these up to see what my daily mileage is and how long I will be driving.

Thanks In Advance.

The only way i would know how to show total miles hours in a day is to export your trip to excel and then create a column for daily totals.

One trick that I have started using is after I have entered the overnight stop (or other starting point) and entered the destination point with all the gas stops, POI's, etc. in between, I will use the "move" or "slide" the destination up to just below the starting point. TW will recalculate the time and distance to those two points, without the in-between stops. Then just slide it back to its appropriate place in the trip.

I've never found any routing software or device that understood the difference between and an overnight stop and a fuel/ lunch/ potty break stop.

A stop is a stop and all are equal is the way the concept works.

Yeah, it would be nice to not have to add them up.

How good is it at avoiding low overpasses?

This question is aimed at those who've extensively used the RV Trip Wizard GPS function: How good is it at avoiding the biggest thing I want to avoid, low overpasses? I don't just mean on the major interstates. I'm more concerned with the secondary and back roads in rural areas. Or going through small towns in the Midwest where there may be a a railroad overpass through the middle of town?

Thank you for your input.
