2014 990 Arctic Fox slideout repairs

Just looking into repairing 2014 990 Arctic Fox slideout. I went to retract the slideout, it moved a little and stopped. Accessing the rails and motor area, I found a broken bolt that connected the motor shaft to the driveshaft of the Power Gear Electric Slideout System. I suspect the bolt is likely a shear pin. Can anyone confirm that it is a shear pin and what type I might need?

There doesn't appear to be anything obstructing the slideout operation. But I will continue to inspect the rails and tighten bolts/nuts and rollers as necessary. Any other advice and experience would be appreciated.

I'm not familiar with the slide used in the 990s. But I have repaired others using a standard bolt and nut. A pic would help. Is there a broken pin nearby? The shear pin on the AF trailers sits in a socket and a bolt/nut will not fit, too long. It requires a special roll pin. For a temporary fix, get a roll pin kit from harbor freight. Put in the correct size and then drive a small nail into the center of roll pin. Once you figure what size you need, try McMaster-Carr for parts. Be sure the slide is aligned evenly when you replace the pin.

2014 990 Arctic Fox slideout repairs

Thanks for your response and input. I did additional research after initially posting my question. The pin that broke was the one that connects the motor to the operating staff. (see Photo) Using a shear pin, like those used in a snowblower, is not strong enough. Research indicated that Grade 8 bolts should be used for the operating staff connections. I used a Grade 5 bolt as the pin to connect the motor to the operating shaft.

MtCamper-thanks again. In addition to the 990 truck camper, we also own an Arctic Fox 27-5 fifth wheel (similar to your setup). Given your location, I wouldn't be surprised if our paths haven't crossed in the past, or will in the future.

That pic looks just like the one I fixed using a bolt and nut. Your 27-5 needs a 1/4X1.25" special pin from McMaster Carr. Check our the NROA site following the issue Arctic Rebel is having with his slide.
