2018 29 5-T problems so far
So, I thought I would post some of the issues we've had so far (since 2018) with our AF 29 5-T fifth wheel. For the most part we've been okay but here are some things that have come up over the past few years:
We had to replace the electric cord reel (whatever it's called) outside. We were having to reel it in by hand which was pretty tough for my weak arms :-) turns out the part we needed to replace was plastic and we found a metal replacement. Fixed.
The toilet flusher came off and caused a big overflow but my husband figured out how to turn it off and then rigged up some things to wedge the flusher to the toilet. It's been that way for two years now I think. We are looking at getting a diamont (sp?) toilet because they are supposed to be better quality.
Our Norcold refrigerator door fell off one day. I opened it and it just fell off. Husband superglued it in the meantime. It fell off again yesterday and he drilled a hole and put a finishing nai through the hinge which is holding. There is a metal hinge kit you can buy to upgrade. (might want to do that before your door falls off).
Now we have a little drippy leak under the kitchen sink. Can't tell where it's coming from for sure.
One of our chair legs broke off and the bottoms of the chairs became unstapled (I had art supplies in them for easy access but I guess it was too much). We now have just three chairs. Also, the extension on the free standing table is kind of off and on with staying where it's supposed to.
Of course those little plastic pieces that the curtains attach to break easily. I got replacements to put in.
We also had an axel replaced because something was out of kilter.
Husband has done some upgrades too and they gave us more storage, etc.
Anyway, just a note so you can be aware in case you can avoid some of these things by upgrading to better parts, etc.
Happy New Year!
If anyone knows a good way to detect slow, tiny leaks, let me know please :-) We turned the water on and let it run but we couldn't see anything. There's a little puddle whenever I empty the trash can under the trash hole.
