28-5C Owners
For 28-5C owners-
How do you like the layout? Is there ample living area room? Enough storage for a gal who likes thrift shops?
Will a 3/4 ton truck be enough? and finally-
Have you weighed it?
Thanks for your answers.

I don't have a 28-5C but have pulled a 27-5l with 2007 3/4 ton GM
As you have a TT I will point out the truck differences between TT and 5th wheel
TT hitch weight is between 10% and 15% of trailer weight
5th wheel it is more like 20% to 25% putting the 28-5C max hitch/pin weight between 3,100 and 3,878 all of which goes in the bed of your truck.
If you upgrade your tires to at least 1 ton tires and either add springs or air bags and then watch how much and where you put the weight in your 5th it could work.
But technically you are overloaded no matter what you do to the truck so if something happens and lawyers get involved ...........
Edit: When searching for your trailer it mistakenly came up as a TT not a 5th

At over 11,5K dry and over 15,5K GVWR your way beyond a 3/4 ton anything. In fact you would be pushing the limits with a 3500 SRW.

We just bought a 28-5C mainly because of the storage capabilities since we'll be full timing in it hopefully soon.
We love the layout, specifically the kitchen (double door fridge) and dining area, we got the booth not the free standing table and chairs. Living area is OK for us, for more space you'll be looking at a longer unit, but we wanted to limit the length for state and national park use.
We have only weighed ours empty so far, pin weight was 2,540 lbs, trailer axles 9,360 lbs. I expect the pin weight to be close to 3,000 when loaded, which will exceed a 3/4 ton trucks capacity since you must include other payload items, 5th wheel hitch, tools, occupants, etc.
Happy travels!

Steeltrap, you mind giving an update ... I have a Ram 3500 and was wondering what a loaded out 28-5C weighs ... Batteries / water / propane ... etc .. fully loaded out
I'm thinking of purchasing one if my truck can safely tow .
Thanks, Blues

I'm sorry blues_sunris but I haven't been able to load it up yet and weigh it. We've only been able to take one very short trip and packed lightly for that one. But, I will surely post here when we do pack it up for the long journey we're planning and weigh it. I'm curious myself at what the numbers will be.
I did research for over a year and the 28-5C checked more boxes than any other for our needs. We're very happy with it.
Good luck with your search.
