I figured I'd just start one thread to keep track of all the work I'm doing on this coach...might be fun some day to look back on things.

I built some ramps to get ground clearance for working underneath...they gain me about 6". I spent the weekend crawling around underneath, getting the spare tire basket cleaned up and working, and replacing broken rivets in all of the bottom rear panels. That should eliminate some rattles and keep everything buttoned up down below.

No pictures yet, but in my poking around underneath I discovered that all the original wiring for the tank sensors was hacked apart and none of it was functional. When we bought the coach, there was an unused SeeLevel II setup in a box under the bed. So, that's become the next project. I got the tank senders temporarily mounted on the tanks and the wiring run. I was able to use some of the existing wiring that was cut off at the tank and run back to the control panel.

Unfortunately the stock panel doesn't have enough room on it to mount the SeeLevel display. I also didn't really want to do that and have all the extra unused buttons and switches from the original sender unit. So, I ordered a piece of black acrylic to make a new switching center. That also means I'm replacing the remote generator switch and the water pump switch on that display board as well, since they're all integrated into the same panel. I have the SeeLevel display, I have the acrylic and switches on order.

I was able to connect the wiring temporarily to test out the senders. The grey and black tank look like they're working, but the sender on the fresh water tank was showing an open circuit. I shorted the wires together at the sender and the display showed the error for a short circuit, reconnected the sender, same open circuit error. So, I'm assuming that sender is just faulty, and have another on order. Once I get that in and confirm it's working, I'll permanently mount the senders on the tank.

Spent last night crawling around under the engine doing fluid changes...things were going well until I realized I had the wrong oil filter. So, transmission fluid drained from the pan, new trans filter and pan gasket installed, oil drained, and new spark plugs put in. Once I get the right filter, I'll refill the oil and use the transmission pump to flush out all the old fluid from the torque converter and give it a fresh fill with Dexron VI.

I also found, to my delight, that a previous owner had already done the AIR system delete, and did a nice clean job on it. The dual AIR pumps were pulled, all the vacuum lines are gone and the air lines going into the exhaust manifolds were successfully removed and replaced with pipe plugs. It also looks like it has fresh belts and water hoses as well. So that's a few items I had on my list that I can bypass for now. Win!

Hello, I’m just introducing myself as a brand new Revcon owner. I have a 1984 Slant Nose, of which I do not know the model. It has a rear bedroom with a queen bed. I do not know the exact length, as I am picking it up next week! I just read your April 2022 post! I’m going to follow your posts as I will probably going to be doing some renovations as well! Have a great weekend!

Looking forward to some pictures!! I have a hard copy of the service manual that looks like it applies to everything from 1983-85. I can try to scan it in and get you a copy if you're interested. I have a few Onan generator manuals too, let me know what model you have and I'll see if I have one for you if you need it.

Good Evening, I need all the help I can get! Those manual sound great! I’m picking up the RV later this week and will let you know what model it is. I know it is long as the seller stated it is 40 feet, which I haven’t be able to confirm! From the pictures I’ve seen it has a washer and dryer? I truly appreciate your offer! Take care and be well!

Interesting...I have a King 33, which I'm pretty sure is the longest model they made, which bumper to bumper is about 34.5' long. Washer and dryer would definitely be an aftermarket add-on, but I'd be surprised if nothing was added on after all this time. Looking forward to pictures!

I’m confused also! I’m anxious to pick it up and get some answers! I’ll definitely keep you posted. I did inquire about the length and the seller was certain it is 40’! I’m bringing my measuring tape when I pick it up!

So, when we bought this thing, none of the tank sensors worked. Some of them were missing from the tanks, and those that were there were not wired...it was a real mess. But, it came with a SeeLevel system in a box when we bought it. I've been chipping away with getting those installed and wired. I finally got them hooked up, and got a new control panel cut out to mount the SeeLevel monitor.

Filled up the tanks to test it out...and realised I have a leak on my black tank. Doh! It's leaking from a hairline crack around where the pipe attaches to the tank. Unfortuantely, due to the positioning of the tank, I can't access all the way around the fitting because it's tight up against the frame at the top. So, now I get to pull the black tank off and see if I can plastic-weld the area around the outlet fitting (and add some reinforcement while I'm at it. Which also seems to mean removing the toilet....which was on my list to do anyway, since the one that's in there doesn't hold water (and is pretty grungy) and the coach came with a new one in the box, so I might as well use it.

Yay project scope creep!

First...tank repair. I first tried plastic welding the tank, but it wasn't taking in a satisfactory way. I also tried epoxy, which chipped off way more easily than I was comfortable with. I did some more research and found that ABS will dissolve in acetone, then re-set once the acetone flashes off. So, I used some abs fittings I had, and melted them down in a cup of acetone ( which took a few hours). I ground out a groove where the crack was, then painted on about 6 coats of the plastic solution to build up about a 1/8" coating. It dried out and set up well overnight, and seems just as strong as the rest of the plastic tank now.

I also pulled out the bathroom carpet, laid down a fresh sheet of 1/4" cement board, rolled on a waterproof coating, then glued down VCT flooring.

Next step is to get the tank reinstalled with the plumbing (no pics but I also rebuilt the two thetford waste valves since one of them was not sealing). Once it's in, I'll fill.itnup again for another leak test, and as long as everything stays dry, I can replumb the vent, install the new closet flange, and install the new toilet.
