We landed at Radium Hot Springs yesterday. The weather has been gorgeous and my flip flops are getting a work out. Forecast is for rain but we only have been getting about 10 drops everyday
Took a drive to Banff today thru Kootrnay National Park. The drive has breathe taking views plus we saw 4 black bears and a huge grizzly with 2 cubs. The town of Banff is like any tourist city crawling with people and that is all I can say about that.

That was Muncho Lake a couple days ago. It was in the 70's. But then at night it froze the lake shore again.

Hey Mark... sounds like your trip is going well aside from your crossing experience at Roosville... I've had some interesting experiences crossing in and out of Canada on my motorcycle trips. You just never know what sets off the bad vibe alarm with immigration border agents.
Enjoy your drive up to Jasper on the Icefields Parkway...

Hello all travellers,
If you are traveling between Prince George and Dawson Creek BC ( about 60 mile west of Dawson Creek) we have restarted our chainsaw carving event after the covid break.
It's an incredible show of wood carving from world class carvers the 2nd week of June (9- 12) this year.
A nice small town break for the weekend, attendance is free.

Hope this is not out of line.

Thanks for the note. The crossing really wasn't bad. I believe we were just randomly selected for inspection. Everyone was courteous and doing their job. They just have a system we have never seen. I was uncomfortable leaving our RV so they could inspect without our observing. Apparently, the way it is done in Canada. When I asked the agent said they were concerned for their safety and that the person being inspected could jump them while they have their back turned.
Moving up to Golden for a week mañana. We will explore Lake Louise and area. Hope to get to Moraine Lake but it appears the road might be closed.

Got into Tok, AK today...
The last 75 miles of Canada are absolutely miserable road conditions...
on the US side first 20 or so are pretty bad and then it's OK with some terrible spots...
Last night at Congdon Creek Campground, there was about a 15-20 high wind that came in that was pushing the ice on shore with tremendous break up noise... seen break up like this on rivers, but never witnessed the wind do it like last night...
now just a week left before the wife flies in...

Someone else reported that to is also. We plan on leaving to Dawson City in a couple days and take that route through Chicken. Anyone know what those road conditions are?

If you're going this route: Whitehorse then Hwy 2 (Klondike Hwy) to Dawson City will be paved and is nice and scenic with lakes and rivers.
At Dawson you'll then take the ferry across the river to pick up the Top of the World Hwy. This will be paved a short distance then gravel. It ends at Tok. Going this way you'll avoid the bad road area described in the above post - Destruction Bay to Tok which is always bad.
Usually the Top of the World Hwy is pretty good in spring/early summer before many have traveled on it. It's gravel and be very careful if you have to let an oncoming vehicle pass. Don't pull off the road surface as the edges can be very soft. Chicken used to be a fun place to stop. Don't travel the Top of the World Hwy in rain if you can help it. It dries out fast so usually it's not a long wait.
When you get to Tok you might want to plan a vehicle wash! Once the stuff dries it's very difficult to get off.
It's a nice route to do. Have fun!

Only restrictions are priority boarding for tour buses and fuel tankers at certain times of the day.
It runs 24 hours, 7 days a week except for a short shutdown for maintenance once a week.

The sockeye are running in Sewart now. Got my limit of 6 yesterday. The weather has been great, rain today. Not sure how to rotate the picture after it's been taken.
