Campbell River BC

We’re considering spending about a month on Vancouver Island next summer, assuming the pandemic is under control by then. Anyone been to Campbell River? How’s the fishing there?
We’ll probably put the coach on the ferry from Port Angeles and return via Nanaimo. Yes I know it’s pricey.
And please, so jibberjabber about the chances of the pandemic being over or if the border will be open. Nancy Reagan’s astrologer is dead so no one knows how this will play out.

A month on the Island, in your RV, and your savings over a motel room will pay for the ferry fees no problem .

I don't fish myself , but hear that the Campbell River area is the place on the Island for sport fishing .

Fellow I worked with was there every chance he got.

Thanks Skip. Hoping for an “Alaska-like” fishing experience without the long drive.

I hear Campbell River is indeed good fishing (I wouldn’t know by experience, not for lack of trying). You can also go straight west of there through scenic Strathcona park to Gold River (paved)or further on to Cougar Creek (halfway to Tahsis on gravel). There’s also Alder Bay RV near Port McNeil (both it and nearby Telegraph Cove have docks to moor your boat).

Definitely not a fisherman but did spend about a month on Vancouver Island in 2018. A busy month. If I were a fisherman could have spent much longer.
