Very small sights. Very small. Great location. But very well kept. Don't do the behind the falls tour. They closed the good spots. FYI. You can walk the bridge to NY very cheap. GREAT for pics without all the people.

Grew up in south Buffalo area. Have done many day and weekend trips to the falls.
I'd second UFO Pilot's recommendation on Niagara on the Lake. (Liked it enough to get engaged there 30+ years ago.) There's a Shakespeare theater there that I'd recommend and the town is nice to just spend the day walking around, or buy some wine & cheese and sit in the park next to where the Niagara river empties into lake Ontario. Great way to decompress from the crowds at the falls.
There's also a couple of (just OK) wineries in the area.
Another recommendation is that there is (was) a place just downstream of the whirlpool (below the falls) where you can park and hike down to the river. It's really different when you get up and close to the rapids. A bit of a hike back up through the woods. When last I did it years ago there were no formal trails. Not sure what is there today - but worth looking into if you're up for a short hike. It was never on any tourist map back in the day.
Finally there is a butterfly place between the whirlpool and Niagara on the Lake. Good fun hour for the kids (or yourself) if you're into that kind of stuff.

Go to see everything early it gets very crowded with limited parking after 11:00am. We liked the US side better. It was more natural and less commercialized. Cave of the Winds is a must do but plan on getting soaked. Maid of the mist was fun also. Fort Niagra was very interesting. We stayed at Branches of Niagra campground and resort. It was well kept and decent sizes spots. Just a few minutes from the falls.

I likes the behind the falls there was 2 viewing portals and then the observation decks. Very cool if you have never seen it. Our tour bus broke down so they had to get us back to the pickup location by cab.

We also went to the skylon tower which was really neat to see the falls. A little bit much for the buffet but we were hungry and by the time we paid to go up in the tower we might as well pay to eat.
