Canadian Cardlock Diesel Fueling Experiences

We are in final stages of planning our trip from Wisconsin to Alaska this summer. I usually do not worry too much about fuel stops since there are normally truck stops conveniently along the way to refuel in the States. Keeping the tank at least 50% filled is the goal. It looks like the further north we go, the less frequent are truck stops as we know them. I would like to fuel both saddle tanks of our Renegade Verona at the same time. In a pinch, I have refueled at retail pumps that have diesel which required me to fill up one side and then loop back around to the other side of the aisle to fill the second tank in order to top it off. So, I am wondering if others have used the Cardlock stations like Petro, Husky, Esso and others have for commercial trucks? It looks like many may accept the EFS/Wex card. If this is not widely accepted, then is there another card like the Petro Superpass or Husky Pro fleet fuel card that would be recommended? One last note is that finding the locations of the Cardlock locations is not easy since Trip Wizzard does not show them under fuel POAs so I have located them using Petro or Husky websites. Thanks for the help!

Driving off the top ½ of the fuel tank, we never had any problem refueling between The lower 48 and Alaska, nearly all fuel stations sold both gas and diesel. That was 2012.

The Canadian cardloc stations used a different card, than used in the lower 48 so we couldn't use them. There was a sign "commercial trucks only". Things may have changed in the past 10 years though.

Last summer I used the TSD card at Petro Canada stations without issue -- or discount.

Look for Petro-Pass stations. Those are the truck stations. They accept EFS cards, like openroads at the pumps. Ultramar’s truck stations “pipeline” accept EFS, but not at the pump.

EFS is also accepted at the pumps at Irving truck stations - I think they’re mostly east coast though.

I’m Canadian and use the TSD openroads card here. No discount, but those truck stops are way better than trying to squeeze into a regular station.

I have not found a Canadian fuel company that will permit me to join their fleet program with a motorhome.

Completed Fuel Stop Plan on Trip Wizzard

Thanks everyone for your valuable input! I have spent a lot of time over the last week plotting where to refuel and which stations would have a truck lane with slave pump on passenger side. I was able to find EFS card accepted sites at the many of the fuel stops. By going to street level on Google maps I can actually see what each station had for pump layouts, this was also helpful at the few fuel stops that only had retail type lanes to select a station with the best approach and departure paths from the pump. I found many fueling sites that were not identified on Trip Wizzard such as many of the Cardlocks. I approached many of the fleet card providers that access Commercial only Cardlocks and struck-out on getting one of their fleet cards. So, I will be using my Open Roads and Gas Buddy cards along the way. Even though the Open Roads app does not show stations in Canada or Alaska, EFS card is accepted at many sites and you can find them if you go directly into the WEX Card Control app map (not the Open Roads app). The folks at North 60 Petro/Petro One stations told me that they accept all credit cards at their stations and cardlock locations. I was not able to find many truck friendly stations in more remote areas of BC and Yukon as well.
