Fishing in Alaska & BC

Sounds like a dumb question but, are there opportunities to fish "on the banks or in the stream" in many places or is it mostly via guide services? Trying to decide if it is worth bringing my fishing equipment (rod(s), vest, waders, tackle box, flies, etc).

I would say time to search , license requirements , for fishing in BC, Yukon and Alaska .
I'm sure others who've made the trip will say there are opportunities to go shore fishing along your route ( lakes , streams etc.)

Sure... there are many streams and lakes to fish along your drive. Check for license and fishery time requirements beforehand. Lots of rules when fishing in different states.

Do a Google for the subject. Here is one by doing that: https://www.mgfalaska.com/fishing-on-your-own/

Oh, I've done a lot of research on the topic. Just haven't been able to decide. Looking at a lot of Charter services which I imagine will fill my fish quota for a year. I only have so much room in the RV freezer and don't want to FedEx fish home. Also weighing the fact that it is probably easy to purchase all the fresh fish you want. A lot to sort out.

There are so many different places to fish from the roadside. You do need to know the fishing regulations, and you might want to pay for a guide in some places for the best fishing. Take your equipment and have fun.
