That's a great tip. I'll try it, but then again since I can't be assured of success I'll still have to plan as if the refrigerator will be off.

Since I think that I will exit at Juneau (there seem to be daily ferries for the 5-hour trip from Juneau to Haines so it shouldn't be too hard to hop on one or another, especially early in the season.) Given that, the trip from Prince Rupert to Juneau will be about 30 hours and for that length of time some dry ice might suffice.
