Mexico - Baja- Ensenada

Thinking about taking RV down Mexico way, perhaps to Ensenada region. Traveling from Palm Desert. Appreciate tips on best routes, smart traveling and park destinations either coast or Baja side. Been traveling to MX for decades, just not with a coach.
Gracias.

Thumbs up tomroosen

I would cross into Mexico at Tecate, then take Mex 3 to Ensenada. Good road, no big city to go thru. I haven't done this with an RV, but did it with a motorcycle a few years ago, on a trip from WA to Cabo San Lucas and back. Enjoy.

I travel to tijuna many times a year and cross through Tacate exclusively. The wait times coming back to the USA are much shorter (hours shorter). I detest going through San Diego. The first few blocks through Tacate are tight but not impossible. Great road to go to Ensinada if that is your destination. For a first timer the scenic road from Tijuana to Ensinada is the best and a beautiful view down the coast. Many taco shops to visit along the way. Just my opinion. Baja on a mc is my dream trip, I am jealous.

We used to drive down to Ensenada yearly but last trip was 10 years ago. Make sure your insurance covers you in Mexico, you may need to get a supplemental policy. Be safe and enjoy!

Even if your American insurance covers you in Mexico, Mexico does not recognize it. You must purchase a Mexican insurance policy, I use bajabound and have found an annual policy is good for me. I pay $125 a year and it covers any vehicle I drive, liability only.

Yes, I know that Ensenada is on the Baja Peninsula. I mean Sea of Cortes (traditional spelling) side. Thank you.
