When my friends in SoCal will no longer go to visit their families in Mexico because it's not even safe for them, I take it as a sign...
Not on my list...

Get south of the border towns and the people are very genuine.

Check out Baja Bound for insurance on your RV and Toad. Also pre do your 180 day visa for you to save some time doing it at the border. They can offer many suggestions for you also.

We drove to Yucatán 8 or 9 times with 28’ and 34’ trailers and with a 19’ Roadtrek. Very few USA RVers in Yucatán but many Canadians, French, Swiss, and Argentine. There are fewer RV parks each year in Mexico and Yucatán. Church’s guide is years out of date and many of the parks no longer exist. @Overlander.com” is up to date. One usually has to overnight at all night Pemex stations. We have read of only two incidents occurring at Pemex and these were due to not paying attention to management directions.

I lived in laredo for 20 years growing up . My parents still live in laredo and I go and visit them for a few months out of the year mooch docking there helping them around the house and do my yearly maintenance.. now you can hear gun shots every other night at times from Mexico 🇲🇽.. i would to travel to Mexico in my RV but I am hesitant since I know first hand the cartel shootings and hangings and other things.. you might not see it in the new but alot of facebook post as it happens live feeds.. we go every year to playa del carmen as I have a condo so no issues there.. issues are the border towns controlling the area for those cartels and some of the spotters at the border who know who is coming and going ..

I'm interested! Wanted to go somewhere warm for the winter.

I have absolutely no hangups driving my Super C in Mexico.

Last Call

We are crossing into Mexico near Laredo headed to Mazatlan, on the 29th of November. We already have one other coach, and would welcome others interested in forming a caravan. Let me know. Please save your horror stories for others. Bad things happen, here, in the states, too. We try and be cautious. This will be our fourth trip into Mexico.

My experience in Mexico

I am a solo woman RVer with a 32' Class A. I've been in El Golfo, Bahia de los Angeles, and San Felipe for about 6 wks.
I love it here and have not had any issues. The locals are ultra friendly. I feel safer here than in some parts of the US. Of course I'm not going to be stupid and go play in the jungle.
I have decided to make San Felipe my home-base while I live in and discover the Baja.

Thank you for the report! We are very experienced mexico travelers but always by air. Currently researching either Mazatlan down to Sayulita (in normal years our "winter home") or doing the drive down Baja (which has always been a bucket list item.)

How crowded have the resorts been this year?

I used to go several times a year until my friends were robbed at gunpoint coming out of a bar in rocky point. After being driven about 20 miles out of town and relieved of their Truck, Money and most of there clothes they had to walk back to civilization. Remember people say everything there is fine... True.. If it dosent happen to .. You . Dont forget the can and do "make up" the law as they see fit ..

Check that the border is open to non-essential travel.

Multiple murders here in the Tampa, Florida area nightly. Evening news reports rapes and robberies almost every day. Carjackings are happening so often they don't even make the news anymore. I did not read anywhere in the OP's post where they ask for others opinions on whether to go or not. So maybe those of you with those opinions could start your own thread. Don't even get me started on other areas around the UNITED STATES for reports of violence. And what about all those mass shootings? We are well known as one of the most violent countries in the world. Chuck
