Road trip from Vancouver to the Rockies
We are planning a road trip from Vancouver to the Canadian Rockies for a period of 3 weeks in the months of July/August and will be taking our 35 ft travel trailer. We have a 8 year old daughter so we will be looking for Campsites with things for her to do and ideally with full hookups if possible. We like to fish, mountain bike and boating. We have a small 14ft inflatable that we will be taking with us. We have never been to the Rockies before so we are looking for advice on campsites and routes, and things not to miss while we are there.

Questions about your planned route to the west coast?
Your profile says NC , have you planed your cross country route ?
Are you doing any must see spots in the USA as you travel ? Mount Rushmore ?
Glacier NP ?
Do you have any specific reason to go to Vancouver BC ?
Traffic in Vancouver is BAD all year , when school is out in the summer it's a nightmare.
If Glacier NP is on your agenda , then Waterton Lakes on the Canadian side , Banff and Jasper, with travel in Alberta ( where fuel is cheaper ) might be an option. From Jasper into BC on Highway 5 , Wells Grey Provincial Park would be a great stop.

Cant offer much help on campgrounds, but Im sure you will enjoy the beauty of the Canadian rockies. I have been to the Jasper, and Banff area, as well as the Kelowna area. It really is breathtaking. A Youtube family I follow was in that area last summer. Here is one of their videos. Hope it helps. Cheers.

You better book your campsites in Banff and or Jasper, fill up very fast, and the real big one in Jasper, Whistler campground is closed for renovations.

A second thought ... I always have them .
Is your 3 week window , your time for the entire trip ? Or were you planing three weeks in BC to travel and relax?
If only three weeks for the entire trip , travel distance from Greensboro NC to Vancouver BC lists as 2905 miles, via the shortest route . To Jasper AB 2598 miles. Coast to coast travel could take 12+ days out of your three weeks , leaving little time to relax and sight see in any one place.
How many miles do you usually travel ; towing ; in a day ?
As mentioned, by other members , all the popular attraction ( tourist ) areas will require reservations for camping.

We were in Jasper last August and there were signs that the Parks Canada site just south of Jasper will be closed for upgrades for 2019. The sign offered no other details as to whether the entire site or just portions would be closed. I didn’t follow up as we won’t be going that way this year but just a heads up for you to check with them. If it’s closed in its entirety then there will be a lot of pressure on any remaining sites. If I recall correctly that campground has over 750 sites.

We will be starting our trip in Vancouver so distances will not be so great.
Normally with our daughter we like to do 3 - 4 hours per day but can do more if there is nothing worth stopping for.

I believe Whistler has over 850 sites , whole thing closed for reconstruction. That is a lot of sites to lose. Not a good year to go to Jasper unless you want to stay around Hinton and day trip back to Jasper, about an hour each way. There is also Mount Rogers campground an hour west of Jasper. This is a very nice campground.
