Time Allocation - Banff & Jasper

I've read several posts that said Banff and Jasper NPs are at the top when it comes to scenery, but is there anything else to do there? How much time should I spend in these two areas? I'm planning on a minimum of 5 days each. Too much or not enough.

Hiking is the big attraction along with the beauty. If you're not a hiker then 3 days each would even be good. However, yes, 5 days would be enough.

There's a huge fire going on now In Jasper so don't know if some of beauty will be gone when you get there.

Hiking can be risky at times. That's why the CG is surrounded by an electrified fence, grizzly bears like the area too.

?? Are you talking about a specific campground? We never encountered that. Hiking trails aren't surrounded by electrified fences.

The soft sided campground (tents mostly) at the lake Louise campground has an electrified fence around it. If you’re gonna be in the area, try to get a dinner at the num ti jah lodge. The food is excellent and the views of bow lake are great!

There’s a lot of amazing hikes, like the wenkchemna pass, or big/little bee hive. The larch trees should be turning, so some of the views will be amazing! This time of year, some of the hiking is restricted to groups of 4 or more - more noise = less bear encounters.

There’s also the glacier tour that goes from the ice fields chalet, but not sure when that shuts down for the year. Plus, if you head over from Banff to radium on the BC side, you can check out the radium hot springs.

I used to climb out there and it’s gorgeous and accessible as long as you’re reasonably fit. To me, the most impressive part of the drive is the sunwapta pass. Enjoy the trip!

Lake Louise CG, our tour caravan of 13 rigs were in that CG. The electric fence was within sight of the sites.
Ya, that would be rather silly fencing off hiking trails.
