The best roadside assistance is to do everything in your power to avoid needing roadside assistance.

That starts before you leave home. Carry most likely to need spares with you. Things like a spare serpentine belt, an air filter, a fuel filter, the tools needed to change them, a good jack, blocks of lumber to support the vehicle & spread load under the jack, tools for getting a wheel off including a breaker bar handle extension & torque wrench, extra oil, brake fluid, steering fluid, a tow strap, battery booster cables, anything such as those things plus the knowledge & ability to use them.

You are not going to the dark side of the moon but if you have what is needed you might save yourself an awful lot of time, & expense, if you only rely on your credit card to save you. You are not on some lower 48 interstate where help is only a phone call away. Your beloved phone does not work up here. You have stepped back 40 years in time.

TD is absolutely correct in all respects. One may wince at the storage space and weight of all of those "just in case" items, but if just one of them saves your bacon you'll be mighty glad you took them along.

Thankfully we never had any breakdowns on any of our Alaska Highway trips, but from all we've heard and read, the Canadians are eager to help in any way they can. But it can be a long wait if something has to be ordered and shipped to wherever it's needed.
