Visiting Toronto Area in August

We are going up to the Toronto area to York University in August for a week. In looking on RV Trip Wizard there are two RV campgrounds anywhere close to the Aviva Centre, one is Indian Line Campground in Brampton, ON and the other is Glen Rouge, Toronto.

Our concern, Glen Rouge appears to be the nicer location, but it is 25 miles to the Centre. How bad is the traffic?

Do you have other suggestions for the area this is our first time visiting Canada.

Toronto is not RV friendly at all.
Traffic is terrible, but there is a less congested Highway 407 Toll road but very costly.

Not worried about the traffic in Toronto, we will skirt the city and pay any tolls. We are most concerned about info regarding campgrounds. In addition to the two local parks, I found a Jellystone 25 miles north and a KOA about 30 miles north.

Plus we have to decide if we are going to continue towards Montreal when we leave or retrace our route and head east through upstate New York.

With all the great stuff I've read about things to see and do in Maine I think we are going to opt for heading east towards Montreal, so lets add that to the equation.

I'm trying to answer this for the 3rd time, not sure what mistake I'm making but??

Jellystone would be your best, easiest drive to York U. As you said only about 25 miles total. HY 400 is a major north south route to Toronto (Think U.S. urban interstate). The highway is presently being expanded, adding lanes and HOV lane, construction should be finished by next summer and make the drive even easier.
The KOA is also just of the 400, one interchange (10 minutes) further north. I haven't stayed at either campground, but drive by them regularly. The both look appealing from the road, more trees at Jellystone. You will get some highway noise at either one, but shouldn't be too bad unless you are very light sleepers.
Glen Rouge (east) and Indian Line (west) may be the same distance away, but east west traffic is considerably heavier (Think I-75 in Downtown Atlanta). Also coming from the north, you are getting OFF the 400, before Toronto traffic start to really get heavy.
Coming from Jellystone, you would exit at Hy 7, go east 1/2 mile to Jane St, then south 1 mile to Steeles. East on Steeles to first or second lights and turn right into York U complex.

Campground reviews website seems to be down at the moment. It's a nice campground.

We’ve been to the KOA and it would be my preferred choice for your focus of York University. It’s pretty much a straight line of 40 miles door to door. Using Hwy 400 into the Toronto area is much better than coming into Toronto from the East or West....busiest volume highway in North America.

When it’s time to steer towards Maine, consider this a totally different destination from KOA. We should talk privately about your travel from KOA towards Maine.
