11 O'clock news...Florida is now #1

Just saw that we(Florida) are #1 in 24 hour counts of new confirmed CD-19 cases. BTW, that record for the highest 24 hour count(15,300)includes all individual COUNTRIES...in the WORLD!

The good news is that Disney World just reopened.

The record count of positives was in part to increased testing, but the percentage of positive results was higher, which is a bad sign.
I’m sure the Disney World employees have mixed feelings about going back to work.

Not really. Florida is hot. I would imagine most are chilling inside in the AC at a bar or restaurant.

Nobody is getting the bat flu lying on the beach.

And dont forget all the peacefull rioting...er I mean protesting that went/is going on.

and if its really as bad as we are led to believe and must maintain 6 feet and masks. WHY are all the cities with large homeless and street campers not dying in droves? look at San Francisco, 1ks living on streets and none are dying off.

Uh.. yes they are but nobody notices because who is gonna notice? Not like there will be published obits in the SF Chronicle...

From what I've been reading, oddly the homeless have been better about *staying inside their tents* and distancing than some of the public at large. There has also been direct outreach to the homeless and in some locales, isolating infected homeless folks in motels that would otherwise be empty and without revenue.

As for protesters, I think we're seeing a couple of things. First, you may have noticed that mask use was certainly in the majority and second, that many of those protesting were relatively young and may not show symptoms so they don't get tested - and therefore we really don't have a handle on transmission. I suspect it's greater than has been reported because individuals are asymptomatic.

FWIW, a 30-ish year old Texas man died the other day from Covid-19 after being infected at a Covid Party.

I feel sad for his family and friends.

While any death of a young person is tragic, I don't feel sorry for someone acting so stupid. Sad to say this young man is not as Darwin would say a candidate of his group he termed "Survival of the Fittest".
Sorry for his family, yes but not for him.

I feel sorry for those who must go back to work for either financial reasons or will loose their jobs if they don't. Especially those who work in the services industry.

Because California has paid for all the homeless to stay in hotels since this started. It’s just respect and concern for yourself and others to do what you can not to pass it around.
Florida - Your the winners!

Could be because they’re outside and/or social distancing.
How do you know none have died? Please list your reputable source.

More testing = more cases

What everyone is not telling you is the death rate is going down even though cases are going up. And that's what is more important.

Also many people are being reported as positive that claim to have never even been tested. You read about this more and more. One guy said he refused to take the test and he was notified later he tested positive. When he called they told him everyone who refused the test is being marked positive.

Twitter is the only place this is being reported:

https://mobile.twitter.com/RebelACol...61281361616896

On Friday, 333 of the over 1000 labs in FL had 100% positive test results. That’s right-every test ran was positive. Some replied about reporting errors but upon further research several labs have been getting 100% positive tests for weeks.

This test is likely not as specific or accurate as the flu test, which has been around for decades and is only about 68% accurate. There are hundreds of coronaviruses I doubt seriously a test assay could be developed in a few weeks that was even remotely accurate.
