Are any RV manufacturers extending warranty periods?

With everybody and everything shut down or shutting down we may not be able to get some items repaired before our warranty expires. If necessary I will be sending a certified letter to the manufacturer requesting a 90-day warranty extension and enclosing the list of open items.

It may not work but I'l give it a shot unless they decide to extend warranties because it's not possible to get service.

I would believe that as long as the breakdown occurred during the warranty period and you document it as such, the manufacturer would still be required to make the repairs even after the warranty has expired since the breakdown occurred during the warranty period. It is a good idea to send a letter to document the needed repair and date of breakdown.

Create list with pictures and timestamp, and send to your dealership that will be doing the repairs. As long as that arrives before the end of the warranty period they will fix them, even if the period has ended. They will not fix items if shown after the period is over.

From Forest River's motorized warranty manual, although I do not know if this is the current manual:

"Customers requesting extended warranty coverage beyond their warranty period must do so in writing directly with Forest River Inc. This letter must include a detailed list of issues and the date of a scheduled appointment with their selling dealer, which is not to exceed 90 days from the date of the letter."

Looks like notification to the dealer alone may not be enough. Since there are many stories of dealers not getting things input in a timely manner this actually is a good practice to help protect yourself.

"REV Group Inc., manufacturer of industry-leading specialty vehicle brands, announced Wednesday (April 8) its RV brands have each issued a warranty extension due to the COVID-19 pandemic. According to the company, Fleetwood RV, American Coach, Holiday Rambler, Monaco, Renegade RV, Lance Camper and Midwest Automotive Designs are providing 60 days of extended warranty goodwill repair coverage to owners whose limited warranties are expiring in March, April and May 2020."
