Campgrounds with known COVID cases

Thought it’d be a good idea to start a thread on which campgrounds end up with positive Coronavirus cases. If we post any known details about the dates, exact locations (sites), events (parties), etc, it might help those of us who have stayed at those resorts to self-monitor and increase protective measures. And it might help those of us with upcoming reservations to make informed decisions on near-term camping reservations.

And how do you know it is really covid? Keep in mind that there is more than one corona virus (common cold).

If you test positive for SARS-CoV-2 antibodies, it probably means you’ve had the virus. It’s also possible to get a “false positive” if you have antibodies but had a different kind of coronavirus.

Everyone sure seems to gets excited about a could be. How do you know it was really covid-19 at this campground?

With the explosion of cases around the country (I'm a family doc, so I can assure you this is NOT all a made up hoax!), you would be better served by assuming EVERY campground, along with every hotel, restaurant, etc. etc. has someone currently there who is contagious, and you would likely be correct. If not now, there was recently or soon will be! Wear your mask, keep your distance, and wash your hands.

Yet they want us to send our kids back into a school building. Not a chance on my watch! My kid will be distance learning this year. As for campgrounds, we canceled our trips to other states and will stay in our state and dry camp away from others for now. Hope everyone stays safe and makes the best decision they can for their families

Great, another way for people who get crosswise with a park's management to try and hurt that business. You see it all the time in reviews. A park with a string of great reviews suddenly gets a bad one and after the reviewer tells their side of the conflict they go on to dispute every good detail of the park that was confirmed by 50 good reviews in a row. The pool is suddenly full of green algae, the bathrooms and showers are filthy, the grass is suddenly 3 feet high. And the store openly displays pornography and sells heroin and meth to little children.
Now those reviews are going to have management openly admitting they have COVID and are actively trying to spread it to the guests. Great plan.
And how is anyone actually going to know. There is this little law called Hipaa which legally forbids the sharing of a person's medical history without their permission. So there is no way the park management, the guests or anyone else can know there was a case on the premises. I suppose a COVID positive traveler could post their travels saying "Hi, I am COVID positive and stayed at site 17 at XYZ park. Just thought I should let you know, BTW, I licked the water spigot." But I don't think that plan of action will take root.

But Doc could we not assume that there is always someone in the campground who has something we do not want? Heck I was in town yesterday and used a public restroom. Saw one person leave without washing. Did this surprise me, no not in the least.

And certainly not every Doc has your point of few either. So are they wrong?

What it really boils down to IMHO is risk management, what are we will to accept. Life has always been that way really.

As one group of people in society for years has been saying "My body my choice" Can it not apply in this situation also?

Hopefully this is case of poor communication. One needs to trust how their doctor communicates.

After retiring I had to find new doctor. The new doctor told to not drink the local tap water because ....

New cases of covid-19 are increasing in someplace and decreasing in others. The states I have been to and am planning to go to provide statistics by county. If there are zero or few cases where I am going, there is no 'explosion of cases'.

I am not too worried about campgrounds. I would start to worry if they had a the calendar of events a shuttle to the nursing home for covid-19 party. I would be gone if the party was last weekend.

There's no way to tell if a person in a campground has the virus. Do you think he's going to go out and shout it?

A campground surely wouldn't advertise that someone in camp has the virus!

Whether I agree or disagree with your larger point ....

That's a bad analogy. You don't "catch" pregnancy that way.

Makes a lot of difference, it could be a matter of life or death for some people so yes it makes a big difference. Dont be so shallow.
