Canadian friends partially canceled their winter trip due to a lack health insurance

We were supposed to spend three months together in Florida with our friends from Ontario but they told us today they canceled their January & February reservations.

Their health insurance carrier told them there would be no USA health insurance coverage at least through 2020 but it may be available for 2021. (I do not know if "no" means all coverage or just COVID coverage but it really does not matter.)

Even if they got coverage in 2021 they would be paying for multiple days they could not use because they could not cross the border until January 2021, weather permitting.

So they talked to the campground in Bradenton and they graciously allowed them to reserve the same months in 2021. They're still hoping they can keep their March reservations, though.

The 45-day "get your money back" rule prevented them from keeping the Jan-Feb reservation. They wouldn't know if they could get coverage until December and if not they would lose their entire Jan-Feb deposit.

So the good news is that the US people who were wait-listed probably will now be able to get camping reservations for the 2020-2021 winter.

But since many if not most campgrounds allow current reservation holders to book the same months for the next year, this could turn into one ugly mess. In yet another way. <sigh>

I haven't even though about calling my insurance broker to see about coverage , I'm 99% sure there would be a $$$$ Covid-19 Rider necessary.

I am in the process of dealing with current reservations for my 5 months south and hope we can get our site for 2021/2022 . We drive our RV home , Canadian neighbors who store their RV's on site will probably be looking at a $$$ bill, for a site they can't get to.
