The Pandemic is Fear of the unknown...driven by the press. How does one combat fear and death...when that is all you hear on national news...

One combats the fear by adhearing to the safety precautions from the professionals and not from conspiracy theorists.

We are in total agreement....perhaps the press should be told..and the pundits.

Where does the press fit into the scheme of things? Here in Ontario, the news station is telling everyone to stay home, then flashes gas prices are the lowest in 18 years. They were running it every 15 minutes. Its like they are trying to cause trouble some times.

In Ontario the press is doing a great job with informing us to stay safe. Low gas prices will not cause people to gather in groups. The press is informing us but they cant hold our hands, be adults.

I was picturing everyone running down to the gas station to fill up every can they have. It didn't happen. I just thought it wasn't very smart to dangle a carrot in front of the herd.

first off sorry udidwht,
here's my problem.
Press Release March 27, 2020:
Island County Public Health is continuing to investigate a confirmed COVID-19 outbreak at Careage of Whidbey in Coupeville. 42 cases have been confirmed by the WA State Department of Health. Test results are pending for other residents and employees. This is the only known outbreak of COVID-19 associated with a long-term care facility in Island County.

Novel coronavirus (COVID-19) cases are now spread widely throughout Island County. There are 80 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Island County. All residents must take urgent action to help minimize the health impacts of COVID-19. The Governor's Stay Home, Stay Healthy order applies to our entire community, in all locations, on both Camano and Whidbey Islands.

We can go fill up our tanks and gas cans without fear of contracting the virus. What we have to avoid is someones sneeze or cough and staying away from groups should achieve that. One infected persons sneeze could infect 10 others if in close proximity. So go get your gas wear gloves dont touch your face until you get back home and wash your hands and put the tv back on. There's episodes of ozark to watch.

What you can expect from the Media is sensationalizing any news they have to report and make up some to fill in. That's how they make money after all.
OK, so the US is now leading the world in cases of the virus. So what? We are testing far more folks that other countries so it stands to reason that we'll have more. I'll bet you good money that China is way ahead of us. Don't believe all this stuff you hear.
If you get the virus it's not a death sentence. Almost everyone recovers from it. It's an uncomfortable annoyance.
The President and the govt are doing their very best to handle it.

Have faith.

Denial wont help your situation. They are doing their very best? That must be an attempt at humor.

Thank you moderator. Maybe we need to start a new thread that provides information regarding travelers issues with getting into campgrounds and shopping for supplies.
