Fines issued to Americans

Read before you travel to Canada!

BANFF NATIONAL PARK Ė As the province enters its fourth month of a pandemic and begins to slowly reopen the economy, the Bow Valley is seeing more visitors, including several Americans who are facing up to $1,200 in individual fines after not following provincial health guidelines.

Alberta RCMP handed out more than $8,000 in fines last week in Banff National Park after seven individuals travelling from the U.S. were charged under the Public Health Act with failing to comply with the chief medical officer of health's orders.

"They were U.S. residents who were doing discretionary activities, tourist activities such as hiking," said Fraser Logan, Alberta RCMP media relations manager.

The seven were fined in and around the Lake Louise area after RCMP investigated reports of out-of-province licence plates.

But please donít let that stop you! WE NEED THE MONEY!

Fines

Those not respecting the cross border agreements should be fined. Big time! Both Americans and Canadians.

Are the Americans being fined in American dollars or Canadian dollars?

It may be time to issue fines for failing to follow along on a forum thread.

Is Canada using these fines to prop up their weak dollar? They won't be getting any of mine. No big deal.

When you get more of a currency with US dollar it doesn't mean it's weaker. Case in point British pound! They can get more US dollars but our dollar is stronger. It's all about what things cost in a country and US is one of the most expensive places in the World to live right now.
