Now that is funny. For all those awaiting a vaccine: it's been 40 plus years and we still don't have one for HIV after billions of dollars invested looking for one. Over 1,000,000 Americans live with that particular virus, and last year it killed over 17,000. There are about 38,000 new cases every year. Not to get off on a tangent, but the simple fact is we live among viruses everyday. Putting your life on hold waiting for a vaccine? You'll probably be waiting the rest of your life.

You choose to highlight one virus for which we haven't been able to create a vaccine. OTOH in my lifetime I've seen vaccines be introduced for polio, measles, mumps, chickenpox and HPV. The "standard" diseases of childhood are no longer threats. I think that's a pretty good track record over ~60 years.
The common cold and the seasonal flu both mutate readily and, therefore, vaccines aren't as effective for them. Not being a virologist I don't know why a vaccine for HIV has been so elusive.

Measles killed over 140,000, mostly children, worldwide in 2018. And that is a disease where the vaccine has been available for several decades. Even when a vaccine is developed it isn't going to stop COVID19 immediately. It is a fact of life that we are likely going to have to live the virus for several years. It will be impossible to just shelter in place and wait it out.

Imagine how many it would kill if there was no vaccine for it!
I agree we can't wait till we have the vaccine and we have to get out, however we won't get back to normal even if we get out. It's a pipe dream.

Ha! Just last month I handled a panicked call from a nephew who drove down to Florida with his bank credit card and no cash.
His bank, suddenly seeing charges far from his normal charges, shut off his card, and then they closed and went home for the weekend.
So he had no gas left, no cash, and a credit card that was useful for scraping snow off a windshield, but not much else.
We got him on his way, but he now carries cash.

Thank you Grindstone! It’s nice to hear some actual fact! I’ve had more than enough of falsified numbers, sky is falling hysteria, and hide in a hole attitude until there is no chance of anything happening. I’m not saying don’t be smart when it comes to social distancing, in hot spots, but this entire country is not a hotspot. Is there a chance you can catch something, yes, there is everyday, everywhere. Your driving down the road in a fiberglass and metal box, class A, at 60mph, or towing a heavy piece of much the same. You do that intelligently, and with due risk assessment, I sincerely hope. Which we both know is more dangerous than COVID. It’s time to go back to work and for us to help this economy along by using our RV’s which brings jobs and a whole lot of healing to a lot of people. God bless America.

Every one of your posts is doom and gloom. The world is going to end.
I'm sorry that you see the world in the negative light that you do.

Sure it was him ? [emoji6] that’s a classic scam.
[emoji44]Glad he’s ok with your help. We always carry some cash .. but not as much as when we first started. We have 5 credit cards so if one doesn’t work ( never happens) we have choices.
Many of the drive thrus don’t want cash or any part of it ... too dirty I guess , cards only and most of them have you slide the card in with the chip and leave with no signature or other touching of the card reader.

A vaccine won't stop a virus dead in its tracks worldwide but it will, pretty much, stop it for those who get the vaccine! Measles continues to exist because not everyone in the world has access to the vaccine and some people in our country and elsewhere argue that they don't want to be immunized. I've never heard of someone who was properly immunized and who received the recommended boosters actually getting the disease.
As for not being able to shelter in place and wait it out, as high-risk senior citizens my wife an I are prepared to do just that as long as is necessary. Sure, I hate "wasting" one of my few remaining years stuck inside, but, when the alternative is possibly giving up those remaining years forever, I'll agree to be bored and I'll stay inside away from people until the situation is more stable.
You are welcome to take any degree of risk that you choose. However, when you are out and about, I hope you will continue to be concerned about the health of others and will wear face coverings so you don't infect any of us who are at higher risk.

I heard back from 2 other full timers that left S. Texas when we did and they were heading to Rapid City, SD and Libby, MT. Both rigs reached their destination and did not have any problems getting there. The biggest fear is getting sick along the way, but be smart with social distance and wash your hands if you touch something outside of your RV. Fuel is cheap.
