How Will We Know When We Can Travel Again?
The discussion about traveling in a sterile RV cross country and wearing gloves and respirators to pump gas etc. sounds very nice. But what about when your fuel pump gives out and now you are dealing with getting towed and the repair facility does not allow living aboard and the hotel room and restaurant and all the people you have to interact with. I have seen areas where the population do not understand social distancing at all. Even at a police checkpoint they were sticking their faces into each car driver’s face for no apparent reason.

I have maintained from the beginning that the annual deaths per year is not going to change significantly.
The links in your last few post have been worth the effort. Thank you!
While 50,000 deaths sounds big but it is not compared to 2,500,000. Think of it this way.
Your investment portfolio has $2,500,000 for retirement. DW has maybe five years left but otherwise is good to travel and enjoy life. You can continue to work part time and make $50,000 per year.
One death is huge. DW died in her sleep after a nigh around a campfire with friends.
Ruled cardiac arrest. The CDC has a statistic.
What is not a statistic is what you want to do with your life when money no longer has meaning. It is time to travel when you think it time to travel.

I see a picture of a sailboat in your post.
I agree that some should not travel and some should not sail.
Some people should stop watching TV because the will become too afraid to leave the house.

You are right. Sailing is exactly the source of my question. When something goes drastically wrong and you are out of sight of land, you do not have the option of pulling over and calling AAA. You must have a plan. That is why many of us have invested in a life raft, flares, beacon, abandon ship bag, etc. and have a plan for using them.
I am quite seriously asking what the plan is to deal with an emergency when sailing an RV over a landscape of closed businesses and suddenly being faced with a situation where social distancing is not possible.
If you are confident that you are not at risk then it is a non-issue. Spend a few days in bed with a bad cold and get back on the road.
I would like to think that I am fit enough to survive being infected, but as a part-time caregiver for an octogenarian in poor health, it is not an option.
The question is simply “Have you thought it through?”. If my asking the question freaks you out, that may be significant.

So 50,000 is your comfort level? When does the number start to creep out of your comfort zone ? The good people of this country have sacrificed to keep that number in your comfort zone so show some respect . You cant go camping for a few weeks boo hoo cry me a river.

If you take out New York and New Jersey this number would be halved. You have to think how many would have died there if the subways, schools, etc. were shut down earlier.

We have only one reservation on the outer banks in mid July. I am still hoping to make it. We can take the necessary safety precautions to keep things as safe while traveling as at home. We really like the COE parks and hopefully they will begin opening in May. We will stay away from densely populated areas.

Also, not everyone that dies had a test for Covid so they may have had some other ILI (influenza like illness). One other thing, Flu season does not last an entire year so your statement about more Covid deaths in a month than flu deaths in a year is a bit misleading.
Having said all that, I too am nervous, but mostly that we have a second more lethal variant from viral mutation similar to what happened with the 1918 pandemic.
A very smart friend of mine put together an interesting analysis of the data. If you are a bit of a science nerd and have 20 minutes you might find this enlightening. https://youtu.be/5EppELuO4T0

Thanks for that Mark, very interesting!

Are you serious ?
I see a big uptick in RV purchase as it will be the one safe way to travel. Cruising and international travel will suffer. Not going to hide in my basement.

Why not?
Personally I don’t see why RVers can’t travel if they want to, at least short outings. Boondocking would seem very safe to me. They only risks are touching the fuel pump handles and trips to the store but we already have that risk staying home anyway. I don’t frequent private RV parks because of the close proximity and tight spacing but state public parks usually have much larger distances between spots.

That was simply one analyst's estimate, not a statement by Disney itself. https://www.cinemablend.com/news/249...ly-pessimistic

Before you spend more than an hour of your time listening to the youtube video, you might want to read this https://undark.org/2020/04/24/john-i...-rate-critics/
Or this, if the above hasn't made you question the veracity of this leading epidemiologist. https://news.berkeley.edu/2020/04/24...-for-covid-19/
