Lots of misinformation or half-truths out there. Hospitals are constantly under strict audit. Do you really think the hospitals/doctors/medical staff are liars? I don't. They would lose their accreditions and heavy fines.

Misinformation indeed, which stemmed from 'interpretations' from a Fox interview with Minnesota senator Dr Scott Jensen.

More info in this article below on reimbursement from the CARES act passed by Congress to help medical facilities care for COVID patients. No allegations of fraud have occurred (though there could be potential). Also reimbursement amounts are all over, no fixed amounts, due to a complex Medicare reimbursement policy.

Personally, from all my hospital affiliations (I'm a physician of 25 years experience), in recent years I have seen growing scrutiny and vigilance from hospital systems to avoid anything that can look like fraud/waste/abuse. The penalties can be quite steep now.
