Mr: camper

I spend 6 months in the south each winter in my Allegro Bus. I can go anywhere.
I will chose a state and area that has the highest vaccine rates and or lowest new infections. I find this site helpful.

https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/...w&is_new=false

We are both vaxed and should be OK.

Thatís interesting. This covid thing has really invaded our way of thinking as a society. I would have never considered such a thing - just go where I feel like going. Flu season is over, IMHO.

I can't read the link as I'm not a subscriber. So what does it say?

if the OP and Mrs. OP are fully vaxxed then it shouldn't matter where you go.

I use a script blocker so NYT doesn't check for subscriber status, but the interactive features are then disabled. From the graphics I can see it appears to be based on this:

https://healthdata.gov/download/gqxm...pplication/pdf

I referenced that report in another post, I hope that's not a rules issue...

While I'd not use vaccination stats or rate of infection increases as a sole decision point, those things eventually become *part* of the calculus. Like fire or tornado seasons...

Good luck and safe travels to all.

Itís a clickable map which shows vaccine rates by county once youíve zoomed in. Hereís what the NYT cites as their sources:

https://covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tracker/#county-view

https://tabexternal.dshs.texas.gov/t...kingDisabled=y

https://covid19.colorado.gov/vaccine-data-dashboard

https://www.mass.gov/info-details/ma...accine-report-

Note: No C.D.C. data available for Hawaii, Texas and some counties. Four other states were excluded because more than a quarter of data is missing. Data from Texas and Colorado excludes shots given by most federal agencies.

The states which were excluded due to missing data are Vermont, West Virginia, Georgia, and Virginia.

The wife and I are both 61 years old, both have full times careers with no work from home the last 18 months (wife is the Nurse Manager of a Pregnancy Help Center and I'm an Operations Manager at a refinery), were both fully vaccinated by early April 2021and since then our lives are back to normal with weekend excursions in our coach to the Texas Hill Country, having our family of three adult kids, their spouses and seven grandkids together for Sunday after church swimming in our pool & dinner, dining at our favorite restaurants, going to Mass every Sunday (doing so since May 2020), etc. We've taken all seven grandkids to the movie theater a couple of times. Neither the wife nor I nor any of our kids / grandkids contracted the virus (we think because of a healthy diet and exercise and use of supplements including multi-vitamin / zinc / Vitamin D3 / Vitamin C / magnesium to keep our immune systems as robust as possible).

In early August we're flying our clan of 15 from Houston to Denver and then driving to the Medicine Bow National Forest of southern Wyoming to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary at the Medicine Bow Lodge to let our grandkids enjoy the mountains for the first time where I spent many weekends as a kid / teenager / college student fishing, hunting, etc. And where the wife and our kids when they were kids spent a couple of weeks each summer camping with my parents.

For us, life is too short despite what's happening across the globe, to not enjoy life. The good Lord controls the time I spend on Earth, not me.

I don't either. We are living normal lives again here in Texas.
I'm sure the sky is falling folks will be along to shake their fingers at me.

Not vaccinated either. Doesnít impact my travel plans or my life. I go where I want, when I want knowing that I have a 99% chance of survival should I get the virus.

Here we go, how about those infected by breakthrough? It's not quite as simple as making an accusation. Try to be thoughtful and not inflammatory in your post.

Itís actually not that simple. The vaccine doesnít stop you from getting infected, and none of them are FDA approved. Sorry, but Iím not going to be a walking science experiment for a virus with a 1% mortality rate.

I will bet the argument only changes slightly when the Vax receives full FDA approval.
Whether you realize it or not you are part of the walking science experiment but just in the group w/o any protection that gets used as a comparison... I wish you well.
