The 15%-20% of Americans who "just say no" and have made up their minds? I don't have much in the way of sympathy left for their needless, early deaths or long-haul illnesses. I do have empathy for the family and friends they leave behind.
I've said before that getting all our shots (not just Covid) for communicable diseases is playing our part in "public" health. It's being a good neighbor. It's recognizing that we can do something that helps others every day - others who have no option in not taking a vaccine.
I'm hoping that "wait and see" folks who've not gotten their shots are stepping up. With some counties having vax rates in the 20% range, it will take a lot to make a difference and I hope folks will see the advantages.
In Florida, it's possible to perceive the political will as being "pro business". I think having a high vaccination rate is better for business because it means that routine commerce is possible (with fewer negative consequences) and more money is spent outside of health care for a needlessly ill population.
