I don't feel immortal, yet! I will follow all the posted rules and not mingle or go to bars(to old). No visiting friends either. I think I'm lucky as I have had 9 years of practice from 2 separate Cancers. I was feeling a bit down over being unable to mix with people while undergoing treatment BUT I understood the reasons. Cancer was good practice for the run up to Covid. I don't recommend this method to anyone......lol! Ahhh, ya gotta do what ya gotta do..
As usual, Stay well Everyone!

My wife and I got the J&J shot 4 days ago which was the day before they were paused. We do not feel immortal and we won't feel that way until at least the 3 week period is over for when a very, very small amount of people had blood clotting issues.

DW and I got our 2nd Moderna shot Tuesday. We feel greatly relieved now, not completely immune, but we believe the stats and science.
I’ve had less reaction to either shot than I had to the Shingrix shots (both Shingles shots really knocked me down for 24 hours.) My first Moderna, made my arm quite sore to raise above shoulder height. DW’s arm no trouble. On our second shot, I’ve had no trouble, and she has had quite a painful reaction in an area about 2” around and below the shot.
For both of us, we feel good about our increased immunity, and will continue to mask at least for a few more weeks, maybe more.

I'm two weeks into my "fully vaccinated" period of time after receiving the second Pfizer dose on April 2. Yesterday, April 20, my church resumed its annual golf tournament to benefit church ministries and the church school (the 2020 tournament a year ago was cancelled).
The tournament was "fully sold out" with 144 golfers plus another 20 on the waiting list. The tournament was spectacular with great weather and golfers interacting mostly as they would pre-covid. As an outdoor event, no masks were worn and for the most part folks kept 4-6 feet of distancing when interacting with each other. The post-tournament meal and awards were conducted outdoors under a large tent with good spacing between tables. There were six golfers seated at each table which is common practice for max table seating in the greater Houston area.
As a tournament co-director, I spoke to most every golfer during the day. Based on "are you vaccinated / did you contact the virus" discussion this large group was near "herd immunity" with about 60% saying they were fully vaccinated and another 20% saying they contracted the virus but were not vaccinated yet. There was a lot of confidence among the vaccinated golfers that the risk of serious health effects is very small if they now caught the virus. A majority of the golfers were in the 35-70 year old range and with most working for energy companies, they qualified as "essential workers" to receive the vaccine starting this past February.
Late in the day I became emotional thinking abut the incredible effort my tournament committee had devoted to preparing for the tournament and seeing the look of joy in the faces of 144 fellow church members who had been craving a return to life pre-Covid. After a year of hell for many, yesterday was a fantastic feeling of "everything will be OK !!".

DW and I received our second Pfizer shots on 2/17.
On 4/2 we traveled to our sons apartment in St. Petersburg and spent 2 nights with him in a small apartment.
On 4/4 (the day we departed) he was not feeling well. On 4/5 he was advised by his employer that a co-worker had tested positive for the Covid 19 and to schedule a test.
He tested positive on 4/6 and began his quarantine. His 47 year old boss passed away from complications from Covid shortly thereafter.
Both DW and I have been completely healthy in the interim period since our exposure on 4/2-4/4.
We still will wear masks where it is either required or requested, but feel totally immune based upon our exposure and not coming down with the Covid 19.
Although the current CDC position on fully vaccinated folks not having to quarantine or test after exposure, we limited our contact with people from 4/4 - 4/13 in an abundance of caution.
On 4/14 we rolled the rig down the road to Lakeland, Florida for 4 nights dry camping at the Sun N Fun airshow followed by 3 nights at Silver Springs State Park.

We have resumed traveling and some outings for shopping and such. Still limiting exposure, wearing masks, etc.
A newscast the other week put it well I thought. The vaccines efficacy are 80-85% against contracting COVID, and 100% against dying from COVID.

But people are dying fom the vaccine itself.

Very, very few compared to how many vaccinations were given and how many have died from not being vaccinated.

Just got my first Astrazeneca vaccine last Saturday. Obviously my immune system isn't yet at 100% protection, but I feel great knowing it's kicking in more every day. 2nd dose in 3.5 months due to our low vaccine supply at the moment.
No real ill effects except I had a fever when I was going to bed some 13 hrs after the dose was given. I am reading up on this and it's actually a good sign for this type of vaccine, showing my immune system is kicking in and doing its job.
Since we are still obeying provincial regs everywhere by masking up at all businesses, mine included when customers are present, distancing and disinfecting hands regularly I feel pretty safe.
We are all anxious to return to something pre-2020 ASAP. The only thing I do enjoy is the quiet past curfew hours. Practically no vehicles or people screaming in the street anymore, actually, since the beginning of the year!

The numbers are so small that it is anecdotal.

The topic of this thread is “ How immune do you feel “ and it’s directed at those who have gotten vaccinated. Let’s keep this discussion within those parameters.
Thanks

I received both doses of Pfizer in March and I am well past the two-week period so I feel pretty good, but I have no interest in gathering indoors with crowds of people. I do visit my 90-year-old father and spend some time with my daughter who is also vaccinated, but it will be awhile before I feel comfortable doing anything indoors with strangers. Outdoors, I'm good! Walking, hiking, motorcycle riding, traveling by myself or with my wife, is all good. Rest areas and brief encounters with people are all fine.
