So how immune do you feel?

This is a question for people that got vaccinated, not for people that won't get vaccinated or won't be "controlled" - please don't turn this into something it's not intended to be.

We got our shots pretty early in the process and from what I read here and on
other forum sites everyone is happy they got their vaccinations (us too).
So now, how immune do you feel as you mingle with people? Do you feel any different as far as being free to go where you want or maybe you now feel free to go without mask? Do you fear other people for not knowing their vacx status as they walk by you without a mask?

Do you still feel afraid to mingle? Do you still mask up when around anyone, whether they have been vax or not?

we weren't afraid to mingle before and in fact with the exception of not going to movies (closed theatres and not much to see even if they were open) we've been living our lives essentially the same as we were before. we've eaten out in restaurants that remained open, had friends over on the deck, been to their places, done in-store shopping, kept doctor and dentist appointments and so on. yes, we wear our masks because the stores require it. no, we're not anti-vax. my wife gets her second shot in a few days, mine is in a few weeks. it's better to have the vax than not but our attitudes and behaviors won't change because we received the vax.

I feel the vaccine is doing what it is supposed to....keep me from getting real sick, go to the hospital.... or die.

Yes I can still catch the virus, yes I can still get sick and possibly have complications.

Since the beginning, I have evaluated the risk around people based on how well do I trust them to tell me the truth about their exposure experiences.

Around people I don't know, then it's about the conditions where I will be exposed to them.

So have I gone back to pre-pandemic? Not really, but I am less worried and a little slacker on my risk analysis of who I am around.

Since the beginning of this...much of the truth (science) has been out long before the "experts" and media and politicians could really transmit an accurate and coherent message. Why? Because people hear what they want to hear and can't pick the tidbits of important info out of the media constant buzzzzz and inconclusive soundbytes. It was there if you paid attention.

It's still just a communicable disease and as its characteristics were eventually discovered and broadcast, if you focused on them rather than what was necessarily broadcast for "guiding the general public" for public good....it hasn't been hard to stay safe and realize what was real and what was hype.

Well Rick ; vaccinations here in Canada are progressing at a snails pace ; just this week my age group got the OK to register for our first (?) dose .
DW. missed the age cut off by 1:40

As to your question ; when I do get my second shot ,and the government starts giving vaccination numbers; saying over 70% of population has theirs ; I'll lighten up on the wearing of my mask , social distancing will have to wait till there is more info about those having been vaccinated not being able to carry the virus ( or it's variants ) and pass it on . I've yet to see good data on that .

I'm still of the mind that due to variants , Covid-19 , like the seasonal flu , will be a continuing part of our daily lives . Annual boosters required .

Had the vaccine but still wear a mask in public.

I don't want to be one who inadvertently spreads the virus......ya never know who might get it and die.

I still play it safe. But DW can not get the vaccine and is at risk if she catches it. I end up getting every vaccine each year.

We get our 2nd shot April first. My plan is to shake hands with the men hug their wife's and kiss the babies. So the vaccine had better work because I'm done hiding from it.

Guess wife & I are both 150% protected. They were saying if you had covid you had anti bodies so didn't need the second shot. We both had the virus and now have had both shots. Number are going down nation wide with the vaccines, NM has no one on ventilators and hospitalizations are down. We will see how this holds after the spring break mass gatherings and the all return to where ever they are from.

We got our 2nd one about 3 weeks ago. We feel much more confident but still wear masks in stores and around groups we don't know. We have gotten together with friends who have had both vaccines and none of us wear a mask during that time. We've also been with family without masks. We continue to distance with everyone as much as possible.

It's really been no big deal to us over the past year to do what is asked of us and we'll continue doing so because we care about others and we're doing our part to put this virus behind us. Just wish everyone felt the same and that, I don't understand.

DW and I both get our second Moderna shot this coming Friday. will continue to mask up and social distance with people we don't know and public places we go to. We don't eat out a lot, and when we go in the RV we mainly stay in COE, state park, or boondock, once in a great while we might stay in a commercial cmpgrnd, but not very often. DW is a retired RN so we always got the flu shots, etc. Not going to be overly concerned, but, not going to do crazy things that will put us in jeopardy either!

Wife and I got our second vax March 5th but we still wear masks when we're out and about shopping; however, there are lots of folks not wearing masks but that's on them.

Better safe than sorry.

Got the J&J shot so now I can visit my mother (who has had her shots also) as well as go to Walmart amongst the maskless and don't know how to wear a mask properly group, with more confidence than just a mask for protection.
I will wear a mask when entering a place that asks you to wear one, even with the vaccine.

Having a couple over to dinner tomorrow night (both couples fully vax'd). First time in about a year. Really looking forward to socializing again. Also RVing to our kids 4/1. We are vaxed but they aren't. Saw them for Thanksgiving outside in their yard. Otherwise haven't seen them for a year. Not sure how "close" they will feel comfortable with. Personally, I would go back to hugging with them. But we'll see. DW is more cautious than I am even fully vaxed.
