No fine in Dallas. Won't even get asked.

I would think that most of us on irv2 are retired and have a steady income. Our biggest concern may the stock market and how that could impact further income. We can all afford to sit tight and take it easy, we don't need to get in the way or become a problem for anyone else. But I remember how it was when my wife and I were young. We bought as much of a house as we could and had as good a car as we could buy. Then came children, everything was tight and we lived from paycheck to paycheck. If we missed a paycheck we were in trouble. That is what is going on now. Not for us but for our children.
It broke my heart when I saw the long lines at the food bank in Houston, these were not about poor people, they were young people whose last paycheck was gone and they could not buy food for their families. They were healthy, they had nice cars at least until they are repossessed, then maybe their homes will be next. They want to go back to work. HOW ARE YOUR CHILDREN AND GRAND CHILDREN DOING? Maybe you should check !
Help is on the way, but because of politics it's not there yet. How long can this go on? How long can government

continue to pay people not to work and can it cover all their expenses ?
Thankfully, all my children are working. One is a nurse, another works for a veterinarian and my last daughter"s husband works at a plastic company making food and water containers. All their jobs are considered essential. They work safely and only one had direct exposure to covid19 which resulted in two week quarantine and then back to work. All my grand children except one has lost their jobs. One of my grand daughters just got married two years ago, her and her husband both lost great jobs. Just starting out life on their own, buying a nice home. Now it is all at risk.
I believe we can all work SAFELY just like the essential jobs, and beat this virus at the same time. WE ARE SMART ENOUGH TO FIGURE THIS OUT.

Welcome to the panic-demic! I choose to not be part of it.

I invite people to form opinion based on their experience, not the fear mongering press.

I surprised to find that Nevada was on the list. Not the impression that got from listening to governor on a live news conference.

The most dangerous thing I have done panic-demic wise was pick up my Rx at Walmart. If the governor of Nevada thinks SD is working it only because he does pick up his blood pressure meds at Walmart.

We do have a control group with 92% sampled and no SD. Sailors on a aircraft carrier. Yes the virus spreads rapidly to infection rate around 10%. Mortality rate 0.2%, a 41 yo CPO died.

So just another cold and flu season. No reason to panic.

Last I checked we still are a free society. You can choose to panic.

I am 70 yo and have been taking blood pressure medicine for 10 years, cause of death is life, aka old age. Maybe at the time I was on a ladder. Just got down off of one. Maybe I am driving the MH. Maybe I am sailing.

List of states planning to reopen late April early May barring surprises. Basically the center of the country with some holes.
Ummm, Florida is on that list, hardly in the the center of the country.

Although I agree there is a lot of Florida that can get back to business that should not include SE Florida, Central Florida, Tampa area, Naples area, or the Jacksonville area.

Just like Nevada is on the list but are we seriously considering getting Las Vegas back to normal so early?

Governors need to look at hot spots and population density when deciding what to do. What may be good for NYC may not be the same as what upstate NY should be doing.

But, I guess that's just our new social paradigm.

I live right smack in the middle of them and own real estate in 2 of those states. I didn't call anyone an ignorant rube - laissez faire, perhaps Que Sera Sera if Doris Day makes it better - but places characterized by inaction or coming late to the table, or having so many loopholes in policy? Yeah, they're out there and it sounds like you're in one of them, as am I.

......
The mayor of Las Vegas (which does not include the strip) is heavily invested in the the gaming and hotel industry. It clear that the loss of income is hurting Nevada.

Listening to the governor, having people come from all over the world to gamble is not a priority. He is very series about SD.

However, the culture here is based on not understanding risk. It is very dangerous to drive or be a pedestrian. Most places have both bars and churches. The ratio is much different in lost wages.

I do not like Nevada as an RV destination. Was very concerned about son and DIL when they moved from small town Washington State. They have not been seduced by the dark side. Spoiling grandchildren now makes Nevada a great destination.

Distribution chain and packaging. Food service buys bacon in 20 lb packages and it's not labeled for retail sale. Where it goes, who handles it after the pig is in a box is completely different for retail consumer sales.

Some growers in Florida had contracts to supply The Mouse and other theme parks, restaurant groups and cruise ships. That was bulk produce, again not packed for shipping to, nor labeled for retail consumer sales.

I'm doing my best to support Elsie the Cow and the rest of her girlfriends and the dairy farmers that keep them. Cheese on every burger, 2 glasses of milk with breakfast! I won't be making up for many school kids but I'll try.

Alfred E. Neuman = Laissez faire? C'mon.

And I don't mean to just jump on you, but this entire discussion - nationally, not just on this board - has degenerated into "you disagree with me, therefore you're either an idiot or actively evil." And, strangely, people's positions on this issue seem to be predictable based on who they voted for three years ago.

Generally, between two polar positions, there's a middle ground where everything eventually settles. But we can't agree on that middle so long as we all simply demonize "the other side".

Some of us are going back to work. Some of us are going to stay hunkered down. If we all do whatever we do intelligently - and we can do both intelligently - we can minimize the death toll, AND avoid killing the economy. Lots of people die in dysfunctional economies.

Well said. Politics has divided this country and it's response to Covid-19. It's time for all of us to come together to fight this pandemic. If we work together we can beat Covid-19. I believe in science.

The governor's actual order calls for daytime only use of the parks and reservations are required to enter them. The size of parties I believe is limited to 5 people.

A number of European countries are paying the wages of people who aren't able to go to work during the shutdown. The single payment our government is paying to its citizens is a lot less.

This is not a political statement, just a statement of fact.

Apples and oranges, and this is not a criticism of your post nor a political statement either.

The single payment to our people is an economic stimulant. The $350 billion Paycheck Payment Program, administered through the SBA, is our version of what some European governments are doing. Payments indirectly from the government by way of the employers who secure the forgivable loans.

Not perfect, but a similar program. The single payments are in addition to these payments

We are also paying unemployment benefits, about 50% of salary, PLUS $600 per week to workers out of work.

Unfortunately, the State run unemployment systems are outdated and swamped, so the $ is slow coming.

My son in law was delivering exercise equipment and was one if the first to go. Still hasn't seen a check.
